Before sharing their knowledge and experiences at Kwentong Isla, our guest speakers took time to enjoy local comfort food at Ang Nanay Robinsons Palawan.

From Puerto Princesa to Cebu, Ilocos Norte, Leyte, Dumaguete, Manila, and even New York, participants have gathered in Palawan to learn from some of the country's respected filmmakers and storytellers.

Day 3 of Kwentong Isla took participants beyond the workshop room and into the heart of Palawan.

From the breathtaking Puerto Princesa Underground River to a hearty lunch at Cacaoyan Forest Park, participants immersed themselves in local culture and flavors bravely trying Palawan delicacies, including the famous tamilok.

Stories are not only written and filmed, they are also experienced. 🌿🎬

Day 2 of Kwentong Isla: Film Retreat & Workshop Immersion focused on rooting stories in human truths.

Participants explored character-building and conflict with Direk Zig Dulay, learned how to write authentic dialogue and transform settings into living characters with Dante Nico Garcia, and capped the day with a special session on music for film by Ron Cabalhug, discovering how sound, silence, and score shape cinematic storytelling.

Participants explored the vital role of music and sound in storytelling,from scoring emotion and narrative to creating atmosphere and meaning through silence.

Drawing from his experiences in regional filmmaking, Ron Cabalhug shared insights on how sound can elevate stories and deepen audience connection.

PHOTO HIGHLIGHTS | DAY 1

Kwentong Isla Film Workshop 2026 officially begins.

Participants from across the Philippines gathered in Puerto Princesa for a day of learning, connection, and storytelling. Led by Direk Zig Dulay, the first session challenged participants to discover the stories only they can tell.

The day ended with a vibrant Palawan Cultural Night featuring the Banwa Dancers, where participants enthusiastically joined the local dances, celebrated culture, and built new friendships.
