Overthinking is COSTING YOU BIG TIME.

Let's say you want a lot from life.

Have high aspirations.

Goals are laid out.

Dreams of where your coaching business can go.

So you plan for it.

And plan.

And plan.

And plan.

Only to realize how much work needs to be done.

And how each step must be perfect and completed and at 100% before you even try the next step.

Until you end up being so confused and lost at what else you need to research and learn, what step you're in vs. what else needs to be done, what can you DIY vs. how much it costs to outsource. Among others.

Before you know it, an entire month has passed and you've ended up doing...
..nothing.

Then anxiety and impostor syndrome kicks in big time. And you get analysis paralysis.

Sound familiar?

I get it. I've been there. And even now, I sometimes end up in that spiral.

BUT. By not doing anything, we don't take a step anywhere.

Doing something small everyday, and failing at it, would have been better than staying in square one.

Don't let your internalized beliefs hold you back from sharing your skills. Building and embodying your brand takes courage and effort. Mindset and competence.

Nobody starts off as an expert. You work through it by doing something everyday.

And when you show up consistently with a clear message that is communicated properly, people see you as an expert. That's what it takes to evolve your brand.

One thing I noticed during the pandemic is that there's more time now because we don't have to deal with transportation.

In pre-pandemic time, if I wanted to be at work by 7 AM (work proper starts at 7:30 AM), I had to be up by 5 AM.

Now, I can wake up 6 AM, go for a 30-minute walk, take a shower, have coffee and breakfast, and still be on time by 7:30.

In a way, this pandemic created these extra hours during the day.

For some people, it's good because it created work-life balance, spend more time on hobbies, family, etc.

But for others, it drove that culture of work, hustle, and grind. The rise of side hustles, ecommerce, freelancing, and the like ( ).

BUT

This naturally led to increased feelings of burnout and overwork.

So personally, how do you deal with it? How do you manage to not be "on" all the time? Would genuinely love to know your thoughts.

Personal branding vs. Business Branding

I was talking to this client recently about personal branding and business branding. She was a life coach, and wanted to know if she should build her brand around her as a person, or around the business itself.

It was a really fun discussion so I wanted to share some takeaways with you all!

Let's talk about the basic differences first.

Business branding is about a whole organization or company that sells products and/or services (think Nike, Fenty Beauty, Google).

On the other hand, personal branding is about a specific person (think Rihanna, Oprah Winfrey, political personalities).

The definition of branding itself is the same. It's about marketing yourself and making yourself seem appealing to a certain group of people so they would buy in what you say or what you sell.

Businesses nowadays are stepping out of the "corporate" identity and taking on personalities. They want to "humanize" the company through their tone, their voice, their visuals, their beliefs etc.

But it's different for a personal brand because the persona is already human with his/her own sets of tone, voice, beliefs, etc. So branding in this sense is more of enhancing or emphasizing what's already existing.

Note: It's always essential to be true, genuine, and authentic to yourself. The more "real" you are, the more connected your audience will feel.

So...as a coach, should you build a personal brand or a business brand?

Well, honestly speaking, it's much more common now for coaches and entrepreneurs to build a personal brand with their own name.

But it ultimately depends on the goals of the brand.

If you want to build something bigger than yourself, something which you want the option to step away from in the future, something which you would eventually like to grow without your involvement, then a business brand suits your goals.

If you want to develop an asset that will help you establish a reputation, build relationships, something that's enduring and completely yours in the long run, then a personal brand is better.

What are you building for yourself? A business brand or a personal brand? Would love to know your thoughts!

There are no limits to starting over?

No matter what you’re struggling with—addiction, relationships, impulsivity, layoffs, divorce, other mental health issues—take my advice.

You Can Start Over.

Starting over means that you’re determined to get better. It means you’re able to recognize you screwed up, and you’re going to do something about it. It means you’re taking responsibility, and you’re going to put your best foot forward. Starting over means that you got up off the ground, dusted off your hands, and put yourself back on the path to where you want to go.

It doesn’t matter how many times you have to start over, as long as you start over. So get up off the ground and walk that road, no matter how long you spent walking it the first, second, or tenth time. Just remember you are not starting from scratch; you are starting from experience.

How many times have you heard people say some of the following statements?

- “I wish I could quit my job.”
- “I’m tired of going from job to job.”
- “I wish I could make more money, but I can’t afford to quit and start all over with a new company. And I don’t want to go back to school and learn a new profession” and so on…

Deep down, many people want more than they have in life, not just more money, but also more freedom, more control, and more happiness.

I've talked with a lot of people throughout the entrep journey. And honestly? Entreps have a different mindset.

They don't just acknowledge these feelings; they DO SOMETHING about them.

They DO quit their job.
They ACT on opportunities.
And that's why they SUCCEED.

And that's why one of the most essential traits entreps have is to conquer their fears.

This can be fear of rejection.
Fear of putting yourself out there.
Fear of not getting clients.
Fear of the unknown.
Fear of public speaking.
There's a lot going on in this one.

Personally, learning to sell was one of my biggest fears. I didn't want to come off as too sales-y to people. In fact, only very few friends and family members knew about my business when it started because I was afraid of the feedback.

But the thing is, if you want to start your own biz, you need to overcome a TON of fears to gain traction. And you need to communicate your audience on what VALUE you bring and WHY it 's important--with as little words as possible.

Nobody buys from people who doubt themselves. So if you want your biz to succeed, you have to conquer this fear.

Do you have any fears you've conquered as an entrepreneur? Or any fears that you constantly battle throughout the journey? Share yours in the comments below!

Anyone out there who can relate with this mood or is it just me?

These brands are CRUSHING it with their meme game on social media!

Memes have been going around for years, and you don't have to be an avid social media user to know what it is. Chances are you've seen them while scrolling through social media.

If part of your brand is to be fun-loving, then your meme game must be strong! You can use these to have fun with your audience and connect with them by creating memes that share inside jokes.

Plus, it's great for marketing because if a meme becomes viral or popular among your followers, chances are they'll share it and you can drastically increase brand awareness and growth.

Here are some fun brands that use memes like their second language.

Do you have any fave brands that use memes too? Let me know in the comments below!

Hi there!

I don't know about you..
.but reunions with family & friends can sometimes lead to one upsmanship and a subtle battle of "who's winning in life."

There's chatter on who's making a lot of money.
Who's going up the corporate ladder.
Who's getting married.
Who's successful.
And other such nuances (Filipino peeps can relate)

Which is why Christmas reunions can get REAALLLYYY tiring and tedious at times.

But this is your gentle reminder that hey, everyone has problems.

There's this persona we show in social media, and it's only the surface part of the story.

Most people only post all sorts of things that make it seem like they're winning in life, but this doesn't paint the full picture.

There are good moments, but there are also bad moments.

So bottom line, it's more productive if you focus on your own problems and stop comparing your lives to your peers.

Cheers IG fam!

As a buyer and consumer, let me tell you..
.I absolutely REJECT pushy marketing.

It feels too impersonal and cringe-y.

And it makes people feel like they're just after their money.

Nobody wants to feel that way.

Don't get me wrong though, I have nothing against ads and email blasts. It's more of the way they're worded or translated. Less "sleazy salesperson" vibes.

That's where storytelling comes in.

Of course, this concept isn't new. Brand storytelling has been around for a while.

BUT it did become more important in marketing in the last decade and so.

Consumers give more of their attention to brands that they feel connected to.

And that's only going to happen if businesses know WHO their main audience is, and make THEM the hero of the story.

When potential customers drop by your post, they should feel like the post is about them. It should initiate thoughts like..
Hey, that's literally ME.
This guy gets it.
They know what I'm going through.
They can help me solve my problem.

Don't neglect storytelling.

Proof of Life: Part 2

Ending the year on a high note because of the Innovasians Fam 💜

This mixer and get togethers these past few days were worth the effort and late nights.

Thank you to fellow LT1 members and LT2 for the planning and prep ng mixer (can't believe we pulled that off even with classes and work ongoing).

Thank you to kuya Gilbert Chan and tito Noj Baltao for being our amazing hosts for the night. Kahit na last minute kayo nahatak, sobrang galing pa rin talaga.

Thank you Prof. Richard L. Cruz for taking the time to join our batch party, and thank you to everyone who was able to attend. Special mention to those na galing pa out of town (Cagayan, Visayas, Mindanao) and to Julmar Grace Locsin and Robby Anne Delacruz who joined us kahit na online sila (hybrid system care of Sir Louie). Ibang level ang effort!
Thank you to Jessen Makilan and Josan Astrid: best in technical support deserving ng award!

A special thank you as well to all of the donors who provided giveaways and prizes (for the party) and donations (for the holiday gift giving at St. Paul's Manila). Credits for the video ops and documentation care of Outbox Media Powerhouse Corp (Rossel Velasco Taberna).

Here's to celebrating our 2021 wins--big and small. And to reaching even greater heights in 2022 💜

Merry Christmas from the Innovasians!

Ps. Everyone was fully vaccinated (some with boosters) and submitted their RT-PCR results (swabs taken at least 2 days before the party).

Proof of Life: Part 1

The last time I met some of these people was last February 2021, and some of them I got to meet for the first time in person (including LT mates from Mindanao, and our professors Prof. Sandeep and Prof. Maya).

The pandemic really challenged the way we do social gatherings, but I couldn't be more grateful to end the year with these wonderful people.

Merry Christmas from the Innovasians of AIM ME 2022!
