Interpretation of the Logo:
One of the most festive occurrences, that people are excited to watch, is the Mardi Gras in San Pablo’s Coconut Festival. Mardi Gras is a well-known activity in the Coconut Festival showcasing it to tourists and the citizens within the nation. For over three years since the pandemic had started, this awaited dance show had not been seen by numerous San Pableños at the City Plaza but were limited only to some who can watch it only in social media and on television.
Looking forward with a high hope for the next festival on 2023 as the COVID-19 rates degrade continuously (in which the car within the logo, decorated in Coco Float Parade design, symbolizes as moving forward to next years with optimism), people awaits again for the joy and the liveliness the cultural celebration brings back through the Mardi Gras (the smiling figures in the logo). The colorful dances that can be seen live on the stages around the City Plaza and the San Pablo Cathedral Church, is what San Pableños miss.
By this, it can be concluded that at its festival’s heartbeat is the Mardi Gras in which people usually remember when the festival strikes again in the month of January every year. Further, this activity is a core part of the festival for it further promotes and showcases the bountiful coconuts and tilapias as the major economical life and identity of San Pablo City through creative dances (the figures showcasing tilapias, buko pies, and coconut in the logo). At the same time and most importantly, these unique dances are the drumbeats that bring back the waves of “saya” (joy) at “sigla” (liveliness) for the Coconut Festival and for San Pableños. Due to these reasons, the logo put a great emphasis on the cheerful and colorful nature of Mardi Gras.
