Instead of panicking, I’ve been focusing on what I can control and thinking through the practical steps I’m taking to put myself in a stronger position if things get tougher. I decided to write it all down.

I know things are tough for a lot of people right now.

Prices keep climbing. Housing is expensive. Jobs feel less secure. For many families, just keeping up with the bills has become a challenge.

That's exactly why I've been thinking a lot about how to prepare—not out of fear, but out of responsibility.

For a lot of people, the dream of homeownership feels further away than ever. If you’ve tried buying a house in the last five years, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Sky-high prices. Higher interest rates. Smaller homes. Bigger mortgages.

The housing crisis was one of the biggest reasons I started looking beyond the United States.

One thing I’ve been excited for and completely obsessed with since moving to the Philippines has been searching for land where my girlfriend and I can build our own little villa-inspired home.

Not because I want a mansion.

Quite the opposite.

Even before the housing market went crazy, I never wanted to be “house poor (it’s a thing, look it up)”.

One piece of financial advice has always stuck with me:

“Buy what you rent out. Rent where you live.”

In other words, let your investments pay for your lifestyle instead of your lifestyle draining your investments.

Now, life doesn’t always fit neatly into financial rules. There are emotional reasons to own a home, and I’m not saying buying a house is always a bad decision.

But if I’m going to build something, I want it to fit the life I’m trying to create—not trap me in decades of debt.

It’s supposed to move them.

Too many business owners treat their website like a digital brochure.

They obsess over animations, fancy effects, and trendy designs while ignoring the one thing that actually matters:

Can visitors quickly understand what you do, who it’s for, and what to do next?

A great website should answer three questions within seconds:

1. What do you do?
2. How can you help me?
3. What should I do next?

If visitors have to hunt for those answers, you’ve already lost them.

Ask yourself this:

Do you have a brand, or do you just have graphics?

Most people think branding is choosing colors, fonts, and a logo.

That's visual identity.

Branding starts much earlier.

A brand is the perception people have of your business.

It's the reason someone chooses you over a competitor who sells the exact same thing.

A strong brand strategy answers questions like:

→ Who are we serving?
→ What problem are we solving?
→ Why should people trust us?
→ What makes us different?
→ How do we want people to feel after interacting with us?

Only after those questions are answered should you start designing the visual identity.

Your logo isn't your brand.

Your colors aren't your brand.

Your website isn't your brand.

They're simply tools used to communicate your brand.

When businesses skip strategy and jump straight to design, they often end up with:
