Calling people to vote straight for a party lineup, especially in races like the Philippine Senate, is often a budol strategy for these reasons:

1. It Treats Voters Like Fans, Not Thinkers

Voting straight assumes you should support everyone just because of party color, name, or endorsement.

But a Senate is supposed to be a check-and-balance body, not a fan club.

Budol strategy: "Trust the brand, don’t check the product."

2. It Hides Unqualified or Dangerous Candidates

Parties often include popular but unqualified candidates or those with bad track records, hiding them behind strong names.

Example: A good public servant gets lumped with celebrities, dynasties, or cronies just to win as a block.

Budol move: "Bundle the weak with the strong, and hope no one notices."

3. It Destroys Accountability

Voting straight-line erases individual evaluation.

Voters forget to ask: “What are this candidate’s stand on issues? Background? Loyalties?”

Without scrutiny, bad leaders slip into power unnoticed—just because they're in the same "kulay" or group.

4. The Senate Needs Independence, Not Loyalty

Senators must scrutinize laws, check executive actions, and represent the people, not a party’s agenda.

A Senate full of one-sided loyalty becomes a rubber stamp, not a protector of democracy.

Conclusion: Why It’s Budol

Voting straight is like buying a bundle online without checking what’s inside. You’ll probably end up with junk.

Better choice? Vote wise, not straight. Evaluate candidates one by one—who they are, what they stand for, and who they serve.
