Lately, I've been thinking about how much my little sister has helped me.

For the past few months, my 15-year-old sister has been helping me with my work. There were days when I was juggling multiple clients, walang tulog, daming iniisip. I got so exhausted that there were moments when I didn't even feel like working anymore.

People see freelancers working from home and think itโ€™s easy โ€” โ€œ๐ง๐š๐ค๐š๐ฎ๐ฉ๐จ ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐ โ€ ๐จ๐ซ โ€œ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐๐จ๐ญ ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐๐จ๐ญ ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐  ๐ฌ๐š ๐ฅ๐š๐ฉ๐ญ๐จ๐ฉ.โ€ But what they donโ€™t see are the sleepless nights, the anxiety, the pressure to stay stable, and the fear of losing income overnight.

I trusted a client who kept assuring me that payment was coming. I stayed patient because I wanted to understand her situation first.

Until the replies stopped completely.

Thatโ€™s when I realized she didnโ€™t forget. She chose to ghost me and not pay me.

And sadly, this happens to so many VAs and freelancers.

This industry gives freedom, yes but it also comes with risks. No assurance. No security. A client can let you go anytime, delay payments, or disappear completely.

Thatโ€™s why freelancers understand a different kind of pressure. We carry our own stability on our backs.

Imagine if she was my only source of income, how would I pay my bills? How would I survive that month?

So to every VA and freelancer out there:
โ€ข save money for emergencies
โ€ข have multiple income sources if possible
โ€ข know your worth
โ€ข protect your peace
โ€ข and never stop believing in yourself just because one client failed you.

Not every client is bad, but experiences like this teach us to be wiser, stronger, and more prepared.

As a breadwinner, being able to finally give my little brother this kind of happiness makes all the hard work worth it. Seeing him smile so big today healed something in me too. ๐Ÿฅน I even bought all his dream toys just to make sure he received gifts and felt extra special on his birthday.

To some, itโ€™s just a birthday at McDonaldโ€™s. But to me, itโ€™s a reminder that little by little, we are making it in life. โค๏ธ

I recently got hired as a video editor, and Iโ€™ve been doing everything on my iPhone. At first, it worked fine but as more tasks came in, the files got heavier (some in GB), my storage kept filling up, and I had to juggle between two phones just to keep up. Eventually, it slowed me down.

When my client asked why my work was getting delayed, I was honest. I told her my situation that I do have a laptop, but Iโ€™m faster on my phone, and storage has been my biggest struggle.

Instead of getting madโ€ฆ instead of replacing meโ€ฆ
She offered to help.
She asked if Iโ€™d like to get an iPad on installment and sheโ€™d cover it monthly so I can work faster and better. ๐Ÿฅบ

In an industry where there are so many talented people, where itโ€™s so easy to be replaced, I found a client who chose to support me instead of letting me go.

It reminded me that not all clients are just looking for output, some genuinely care about the people they work with. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน

If youโ€™re a freelancer (or dreaming to become one), I hope you find clients who see your value, who understand your struggles, and who are willing to grow with you, not just replace you.
And if you already have oneโ€ฆ donโ€™t take them for granted. ๐Ÿค
