When I was young, I have been exposed to the world of journalism. I started in Elementary School Press Conferences and eventually climb up to Regional School Press Conference. My niche back then was Photojournalism, Sports and News Writing, and Copy Reading and Headline Writing. As a journalist of our School Paper, we were taught to create new content every month, at least once a month.
After graduating from primary education, my content creation stop because my school doesn’t join such competition and has no school paper, it was very frustrating, but it doesn’t stop me in creating content. Then there, a Sign came, it was a flash advertisement of a book I read showing how to develop and earn money through skills in content writing. I got curious and the same time excited knowing that I can express again my creativity.
Odesk.com (Upwork now) was the starting point of my career in freelancing. It was the advertisement I saw in the book. After school hours, I always drop by to an internet cafe before going home and research more about Odesk.com. When I was ready, I’ve created my account and began searching for work. It was difficult finding a client since I have no experience and my qualifications aren’t solid enough. I have given in one point yet my heart still wants to try once again. And there I found my very first client, She was a High School Teacher in Canada searching for content creator particularly in essay writing, blogging and article creation for High School students. It was a blessing and a match made in Heaven, I urgently email and contacted her, proposing that I am a content writer since primary up to secondary, I have even shown her my published articles, at first she was hesitant, but later on, she agreed.
We continue doing transactions until my college years because my writing is getting much more on professional or formal writing and does not sound like a high school student. it was a sad moment and yet I take it as a compliment knowing that my writing is improving. because of that event, I started shifting my niche, I began creating graphics designs and was even part of our college yearbook publication staff.
