One year from today, on the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, we will celebrate a milestone that honors our past and inspires our future.

EYES HERE | Aloysius Gonzaga(Pirates ‘99) of Magis Batch ‘99 Donates to University Infirmary!

Heartfelt thanks to Magis Batch 1999 for donating a new refrigerator to the University Infirmary!

The donation was formally turned over through a MOA signing, along with a visit to the Infirmary office led by Sir Michael Lladones.

Present during the turnover event were Fr Ernald Andal, SJ, Ms. Silvie Agravante of Magis batch 99, Advancement Director Ralph Jorline Chua, and Magis Batch 99 representatives.

Ateneo de Zamboanga University x Azul Aguilas Sports Foundation

Forging a Stronger Partnership for the Future of Student-Athletes

A significant milestone was achieved as Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) and the Azul Aguilas Sports Foundation (AASF) formally began discussions toward forging a meaningful partnership dedicated to the growth, development, and support of student-athletes.

An initial meeting was held to align the vision, establish proper policies, and discuss the processes necessary to ensure that the partnership is built on a strong foundation, with all initiatives placed in the right perspective and guided by shared goals.

Representing Ateneo de Zamboanga University were Mr. Ralph Jorline M. Chua, Director of the Advancement Office; Ms. Silvie Jasmine Bandiola-Agravante, Board of Trustees Representative for the Advancement Office and President of Ateneo High School Batch 1999; Mr. Vince Marcus, Office Staff of the Advancement Office; Ms. Jenny Reyes, Director of College Admission and Aid; and Ms. Sherry Almazan Lim, Office Staff of the College of Admissions, and Mr. Al-sharad Joaquino, JHS Athletics Coordinator.

Representing the Azul Aguilas Sports Foundation were ADZUAA Immediate Past President and Ateneo Alumni High School Batch 2000 President John Federick P. Ruiz, together with Ateneo Alumni High School Batch 1999 member Niño Rejhi J. Natividad.

The meeting marks the beginning of a collaborative journey between AdZU and AASF, focusing on strengthening programs that promote excellence in academics, athletics, character formation, and opportunities for aspiring student-athletes.

Together, Ateneo de Zamboanga University and Azul Aguilas Sports Foundation continue to champion the values of Magis — striving for greater excellence, service, and leadership through sports and education.

LOOK | College Class 1985 Continues to support the Mission!

We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the AdZU College Class of 1985 for their multifaceted support of our institution. Their recent donations include a Scholarship Support to the Tranquilina Wee Lorenzo Scholarship of Php 32,500, and a Pan Cada Dia (Daily Bread) support of Php 25,000.

We also recognize their significant role in the renovation of the Mary Shrine at the Canisius Building. These contributions not only preserve our physical campus but also secure the academic and personal well-being of our students.

AdZU Alumnus donates waste bins in support of Solid Waste Management Program

Mr Rolly Macasaet of HS Class of 1977 gifted waste bins to supplement AdZU's segregation efforts in accordance with its Solid Waste Management Policy.

Mr Macasaet is a long time supporter of the university, and a prominent figure in the government sector.

AdZU's SWM efforts has successfully reduced waste in the university to a significant extent in the past many years. The university appreciates the assistance of alumni towards the program.

Work is ongoing at the Canisius Lobby as we revitalize the Mary Shrine—a campus landmark since 1955. We are incredibly grateful to College Batch 1985 for sponsoring these improvements, creating a more welcoming environment where our students can find quiet comfort amidst their busy schedules. Partnering for a Healthier Community: Cecile’s Pharmacy Backs AdZU School of Medicine Projects

We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone in our commitment to community service! Ateneo de Zamboanga University, School of Medicine has officially entered into a strategic partnership with Cecile’s Pharmacy to launch the “Community Health Plan Project Support.”

This collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) ceremony attended by key representatives from both institutions. AdZU was represented by our University President, Fr. Ernald Andal, SJ; School of Medicine Dean, Dr. Jaybee Bazan; Board of Trustee member, Ms. Silvie Agravante; and Director for Advancement, Mr. Ralph Jorline Chua.

Representing Cecile’s Pharmacy were Chief Operating Officer Mr. Prime Asprer Jr, alongside Mr. Stephen Saavedra and Ms. Analee Saluntao.

The agreement will pave way for Cecile's Pharmacy to provide support to the following student-ldt SOM Community Health Interventions:

Hypertension Management: Promoting early screening and lifestyle education to combat high blood pressure.

Maternal & Child Health: Addressing malnutrition in children under five and increasing immunization rates.

Safe Medication Practices: Educating the community on proper dosage, storage, and the hidden dangers of self-medication.

Adolescent Health: Raising vital awareness to help reduce the prevalence of teenage pregnancy.

Through this partnership, we combine academic expertise with pharmaceutical reach to bring professional healthcare insights directly to the heart of our communities.

LOOK! | Anonymous Donor pledges P500k donation to the Lantaka Restoration Project

We are deeply moved to announce a significant milestone in our Lantaka Restoration Project Campaign. An anonymous family donor has pledged P500,000 dedicated to the restoration of one of Lantaka’s fourth-floor rooms, ensuring that this historic landmark continues to stand as a beacon of our shared heritage.

On May 7, at 10:00 AM, the family officially formalized their commitment through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing. Joining them in this momentous occasion were:

Anonymous donor gifts Php500k for Lantaka Restoration Project.

The Lantaka Restoration Project reached a significant milestone on April 11, 2026, through the remarkable altruism of an anonymous donor. With a P500,000 contribution presented on behalf of the benefactor, this selfless act has provided the momentum necessary to continue safeguarding the cultural and historical fabric of the Lantaka Campus.

The generous gift is specifically designated to fund the renovation of a heritage room, a space meticulously designed to serve as a bridge between the past and the future. This room is intended to celebrate local roots by providing a venue to honor the diverse lineage and histories of Zamboangeño families, while fostering cultural continuity to ensure the stories forming the city's identity are not lost to time. Ultimately, it offers a curated space where visitors can engage deeply with the legacy of their community and find inspiration through reflection.

The partnership was formalized via a Memorandum of Agreement signed by University President Fr. Ernald Andal, SJ, and Board of Trustees Member Ms. Silvie Agravante. While the benefactor has chosen to remain unnamed, their representative was present to finalize the commitment to heritage preservation and community memory.

Beyond the financial support, this act represents a profound dedication to the Atenean ideal of service. By helping to create a sanctuary for history, this silent supporter is ensuring that the values of gratitude and community remain at the forefront of the Lantaka Campus development.
