College Parents’ Council donates PhP200,000 in Support of Gate 6 Waiting Shed Renovation

On February 6, 2026, the College Parents' Council donated P200,000 for the renovations to be made at the Gate 6 Salvador Campus - in collaboration with the University’s efforts to enhance comfort, welfare, and safety of the students.

Following the LGU mandated transfer from Gate 2 to Gate 6, the Gate 6 waiting shed became the main drop-off and pick-up location. The donation will help pay for the much-needed renovation of the shed. The goal of the renovation project is to make Gate 6 a more secure and student-focused waiting area.

In order to give college and senior high school students a safe and comfortable environment while they wait for their parents or guardians, expected improvements include proper seating, better lighting, weather protection, and necessary safety features.

To strengthen this cooperative effort, the Senior High School Parent-Teacher Association is anticipated to contribute to the project in addition to the College Parent Council.

The SHS PTA has also stated that it is willing to collaborate closely with the College Parents' Council in order to see the project through to completion.

Venue of the turnover was held at the Vice President on Higher Education Office with the presence of Fr. Rene C. Tacastacas, SJ. (Vice President for Higher Education), Ms. Jenny Reyes (Director, Scholars and Admissions College), Mr. Ralph Chua (Director, Advancement Office), and Mr. Jay Bautista (Vice President of College Parents’ Council).

MISSION IN MOTION | Strengthening Grade School Scholarships Through MOA with Fr. Juan R. Sanz SJ Youth Formation Inc.

AdZU marked a meaningful milestone in advancing educational access at the Grade School level with the formal recognition of the Fr. Juan R. Sanz SJ Youth Formation Inc. following the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on December 05, 2025.

The MOA was signed at the President’s Conference Room between the Fr. Juan R. Sanz SJ Youth Formation Inc. and Fr. Ernald M. Andal, SJ, signifying the University’s acknowledgment of the organization’s mission to support Grade School education through scholarship assistance.

During the same occasion, Grade School Principal Ms. Elena Segurigan, together with Fr. Ernald, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the Fr. Juan R. Sanz SJ Youth Formation Inc. in recognition of its commitment to supporting Grade School scholars. The certificate was received by the organization’s President, Mr. Jonathan Regino.

Even prior to its formal recognition, the members of the corporation had already supported three (3) Grade School graduates in their individual capacities, with three (3) scholars currently continuing their studies. This highlights the tangible impact of alumni-led service to the Atenean community.

Through this partnership, the newly incorporated organization is now formally recognized as an official partner in continuing and expanding AdZU’s Grade School scholarship programs.

All members of the Fr. Juan R. Sanz SJ Youth Formation Inc. are alumni of Ateneo de Zamboanga University, united by a shared desire to give back and ensure that quality Jesuit education remains accessible to young learners, regardless of financial circumstances.

The MOA underscores AdZU’s continued commitment to building partnerships that strengthen educational opportunities and nurture future generations grounded in faith, excellence, and service.
