Domain authority (DA) is a HORRIBLE metric for evaluating backlink quality.
A website DA might be 55...
But their content, rankings, or backlinks might be trash.
Meaning, their backlinks are TRASH.
7 things to look at to evaluate if a backlink is good or bad 👇
1/7 Website traffic. Does the site rank well on Google and does it drive a lot of traffic?
2/7 Ranked keywords. Does the site rank for keywords relevant to my/client’s website? Or are they ranking for low-difficulty, useless keywords?
3/7 Site traffic. If a website is driving a ton of organic traffic, chances are, they’re in Google’s good graces.
4/7 Whether the site is a link farm or not.
If they have 10+ unrelated categories, chances are it’s a churn-and-burn website created to sell links.
5/7 The number of referring domains. Self-explanatory.
That said, I usually don’t look too much into this if all the other signs show that the site is legit.
6/7 Whether it’s a real website with a real following.
Do they have social media pages?
Is the team behind the website REAL people?
7/7 If the site got hit by a penalty.
If the website’s traffic took a nose-dive, chances are, they got hit by a penalty and their backlinks are worthless.
