The ambitious project, announced by China's Ministry of Transport and Shanghai's government, will see the hyperloop train travel at speeds of up to 1,000 kilometers per hour, cutting the journey time between the two cities from 90 minutes to just 15.
The project is part of China's plan to develop the world's most advanced transportation network, with the aim of connecting the two cities by 2035.
The train will be powered by magnetic levitation technology, allowing it to travel at high speeds without any contact with the ground. It will also be built to withstand extreme weather conditions, such as earthquakes and heavy snowfall.
The hyperloop train is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80 percent compared to conventional high-speed rail.
The project is part of China's plan to become a global leader in the development of advanced transportation technology. The country is already working on a variety of projects, such as a high-speed rail network connecting Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, and the construction of an underground tunnel between the cities of Hangzhou and Suzhou.
If successful, the project could revolutionize the way people travel in China and potentially around the world.
