Role Description

This is a contract role for a Research Coordinator – Sudan. The Research/Evaluation Coordinator will be responsible for conducting research for evaluations, collecting data, coordinating with local stakeholders, hiring, training and managing field teams, and ensuring quality assurance.

The incumbent must have experience in designing and conducting evaluation studies of projects involving cash transfers (both conditional and unconditional) and must be able to travel across cities in Sudan as per the project requirements.

Day-to-day tasks include managing evaluation studies, hiring and managing field teams, coordinating to ensure compliance with Institutional Review Board (IRB) guidelines, and coordinating with various stakeholders. The Research Coordinator will also focus on effective communication of the progress of the evaluation activities and support the overall research initiatives of the organization.

Qualifications and Experience

1. Strong grip on implementing evaluation protocols as set out by the evaluation plan
2. Proficient in Data Collection and Institutional Review Board (IRB) compliance
3. Excellent Communication skills, and must be available and able to provide daily updates
4. Ability to manage mixed-methods evaluation studies with strong coordination skills
5. Background in social, political, or economic research is a plus
6. Must have experience in managing field teams
7. Relevant educational qualifications in a related field with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the country or region.
8. Must be proficient in English and Arabic (local dialect)

Accurate research is seldom done. There are so many loopholes that are being used to enforce some desired research findings, which in fact are counterfactual. The obvious reasons are financial as well as political.Inability to identify and remove those loopholes, organizations, while designing their own research projects, put themselves at risk of being ill-informed about their theory of change, outcomes and sustainability factors.
