How to make $1000 more per month from home (online), if you are starting 100% new.
First draft .
1st. Give yourself 6 months. It takes people a life time to learn how to make $100 online , so giving yourself 180 days is a good time frame. Be patient my little one.
2nd. You can do all this just by yourself, if you just start believing that the reason why you will succeed is your effort and not a magic solution.
3rd. Stop falling in love with fancy ideas, unique startup projects or weird products. Your goal is to make $1000 per month extra , so don't over think it by trying to be original you just want to be practical.
4rd. Find out a skill/task that can be performed 100% online and that you can learn from home.
The first step is to learn what you shouldn't learn.
Example: Chinese Poetry - Difficult and not practical and nobody will pay you for that.
you can learn things that people look for :
Content editor
Keyword research
Market Analysis
Ecommerce product description
Video editing
Podcast editing
Voice over
Again read it again: I'm telling you to "find out a skill" not to LEARN that skill.
Build a list of things that you think are doable.
No idea what type of skills are the most popular skills required to work from home? Google it! (don't be lazy)
5th. Define what skill you have the capacity to learn. We all can learn everything but some people are more inclined to learn some type of skills. Make a little list and ask yourself: Can I do this? And answer YEAH.... (in other words, set yourself up to the idea of learning something new and try to get excited).
Hint: Smile.
6th. Before you go and learn to edit Japanese Videos for no really good reason. Go to Jobsites, Upwork, gig economy sites, FB groups and "read" posts of people asking for help in their business. If you don't see a demand of people asking for editing services for Japanese videos, then your idea is not going to work.
Go back to square one and try again.
7th. By now you must have an idea of a skill you want to learn, then ask yourself: How badly do I want this to work?
Because once you narrow, then comes to pain.
you are going to remove from your calendar, the slot of 9 pm to 2 am.
Yes. you will be working on this part time biz 5 hours per night.... say bye to Netflix, and hello coffee and get ready to work.
If you don't want it bad enough you will barely last 15 minutes.
8th. Subscribe to every single Youtube Channel that talks about "your new" skill . So if you want to be a ecommerce product writer, or a dating coach, start consuming content related to that topic.
No video title is a bad title, just listen to it while you work on your trait ... mainly become obsessed with your new "thing"
9th. Get familiar with job sites and make a list of the type of jobs people are posting. Your goal is to adapt your services to the demand. Again, don't come up with crazy funky amazing ideas. Be boring - in the beginning - and do EXACTLY what others are doing.
10th. Copy someone else. Find 2 or 3 cats that are doing well in this new "area" you want to explore and become obsesses with them. Find what they are doing, how much do they charge, what content they put on their website and mimic your services to the "but cheaper".
(you are starting and you are crap, so you should charge less to start with).
11th. By now you have no idea what you are doing so the best way is to sell your services. There is nothing more beautiful that selling your services when you have no idea if you can provide them or not. In other words, go out there, put your big boy/girls pant and chose to fail for a few weeks.
Relax, this is the online world. nobody can punch you from the computer screen, you will be fine. Embrace the panic and the impostor syndrome
12th. Build some type of online presence. This means, go out there and create your linkedin profile, upwork, freelancer, and join every single freelancing site in the world. Also join all FB groups about "this topic" and tell your school friends you are now working in X topic. In other words, announced it to the world. (tell your mum, she will be super proud)
13th. Come up with a stupidly good offer. in other words, your goal is to make your first $100 online with your new skill. The idea is to struggle, face your fear and then deliver what you sold. So try to sell your new service, even for $1 to your first ever client. You want to test yourself as the person that can deliver "that" service.
14th. Use the first $100 to PARTY ! Some people never make $100 online, go wild and enjoy your success.... (max time for this task: 5 minutes - then go back to work)
15th. Network with people that are further than you. Contact them, ask them questions , offer your help (even if you can't help them at all) and ask for advice. You would be amazed how many people help you out if you ask. Pro tip: Be nice . Pro tip #2: don't be a.
16. Keep going , don't complain. Ever. Don't ever complain.
17th. Start narrowing your service. By now you have learned that skill or at least know more than you used to know in day 1.... you have watch hours and hours about it, you have analysed your competitors and you have deliver a service to someone. Now make it a bit more unique, add a bit of sauce, make it a bit better. Package your service and increase your price.... go and sell it. (If you don't like selling, is not relevant, this is not Disneyland this is a business - your feelings are not relevant)
18th. Start writing about your experience. People want to follow people, therefor write about what you have learned, your process, your story, ask people to help you out and by you talking about your own story, you are going to demonstrate your commitment to your own path. Own that story, it will help you to market yourself.
19th. Make a list of things that you are not sure about your new skill. Now that you know the basics is time for you to explore deeper. Ask questions to experts, post on Quora, linkedin and become that guy/girl that is always asking. There are not stupid questions, just stupid people that waste their time with questions not worth answering. Craft those questions like a ninja and find mentors .
20th. By now you have learned that making $1000 per month online is not easy but is doable. You have demonstrate to yourself you can do it, that you have discipline, that making money is possible if you stop and start working and even more important you now have the same type of roadmap that can be use to generate $10000 per month or a lot more.
Just keep it simple, 100% un-romantic, stop trying to be unique, funky or a dreamer and just become an expert in doing the tasks required to make progress.
