Cybersecurity is changing shape again.
The latest incidents are reinforcing a familiar lesson: the biggest risks rarely come from a missing tool alone. They come from weak governance around cloud access, third-party exposure, and response decisions made too late.
When a compromised open-source component can become a route into sensitive environments, or a leaked API key can open the door to cloud data, the conversation has to move beyond technical controls. It becomes a business issue: how quickly risks are identified, who has decision authority, and whether incident response is ready for real pressure.
For leadership teams, the question is no longer whether security exists. It is whether security is structured to support the business when conditions change quickly.
Organizations that review governance, third-party oversight, and incident readiness now will be better positioned to reduce disruption later. For teams reassessing their security posture, this is often the right time for a strategic conversation.
