GENERAL MANAGER OPERATIONS
Universal Information Systems (Pvt) Ltd is seeking an offshore GM Operations stationed in Karachi, Pakistan for its USA based client in Transportation industry.
General Description
The General Manager Operations manages the activities of the operations and the operations staff. This includes overseeing and managing of drivers, customer service, maintenance, dispatch, accounts and administrative personnel. In addition, working with service providers and vendors to ensure compliance with the company's core values and best practices. The GM Operations is responsible for a wide spectrum of responsibilities and must be able to multi task with ease and proficiency. The position requires regular, often daily and after hours interaction with all company departments and all levels of management in order to increases revenue; control costs, and improve productivity of office and staff while ensuring a safe work environment.
UIS is plans to train and develop right candidates for the specific functions.
Essential Job Functions
• Strategic planning and management of daily operations which includes overseeing the processes of trucking, customer service, fleet maintenance, dispatch operations and information collection and analysis.
• Oversee the fleet which include drivers, dispatch personnel, administrative personnel, asset management, contractors and service providers.
• Responsible for cost control, budgeting, revenue and profitability. This includes creating, and effectively communicating operational and functional reports and information to upper management in order to analyze trends, revenue, cost control, and productivity.
• The position also handles many human resource activities, including hiring and firing, training and employee orientation.
• The position handles aspects of safety and compliance, responsible for compliance of corporate and government regulations regarding safety, and transportation.
• Protects company's image by keeping company information confidential. Maintain company's core value and best practices throughout national operations.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
• Other duties as needed.
Other Skills & Abilities
• Ability to establish positive working relationships and effectively communicate with all levels of staff and management.
• Mechanically inclined and ability to understand fleet maintenance related activities and performance of maintenance personnel
• Organizational and multitasking skills are a most for any position in operations.
• Ability to quickly research and learn rules & regulations related to Department of Transport, Federal, State, County, City and IRS.
• Keeping the organization running smoothly from day to day requires excellent organizational skills and ability to solve problems quickly and move on.
• Managing multiple shipments and trucks to destinations around the country is very complex and requires multitasking, problem solving and quick decision making for effective outcomes.
• This also includes the collecting and analyzing of information created from shipments, which also requires the ability to organize information into usable reports and graphs to aid in the decision making process.
Education & Experience
• A degree in Logistics, Transportation Management, or Business or equivalent work experience is preferred but not required.
• The position requires management experience. Any Knowledge of the transportation industry including dispatching, shop and inventory management and fleet management is preferred.
• Any related knowledge of federal and state regulations for the transportation of goods, US Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, dangerous goods regulations, US transportation modes, traffic routes in US, trucking lanes and United States most efficient highways.
Other Requirements
• Job may require use of standard office equipment, extended hours sitting and after hours availability to effectively respond to issues.
• Transportation operation requires dedication and priority over personal preferences and issues, GM Operations assigned to this position is expected to demonstrate cold business attitude and prioritize operations above all responsibilities.
• GM Operations may to be required to travel to United States and be available to station at US location for extended period of time.
