Imagine a delivery guy showing up at your doorstep for several years to hand you over a whole load of pizzas which you never ordered. Does it sound weird and exciting at the time to you?
Jean Van Landeghem, a 65 year old man who lives in Turnhout, Belgian has been receiving pizzas for nearly a decade. But the fact is that he never ordered them.
Initially, like anybody else, he thought that there was a mix up in the addresses, but after receiving orders of pizzas, kebabs and pita more often he realizes that there is something more sinister going on here.
His “pizza terror” came to a climax in January 2019 when ten different delivery men showed up at his house, one of which had 14 pizzas with him.
“I cannot sleep anymore. I start shaking every time I hear a scooter on the street. I dread that someone will come to drop off hot pizzas yet another time,” he added.
“I have always refused the deliveries, so I have never paid for anything,” he said, adding that the harassment is not only annoying for him, but also for the restaurants because all food goes to waste.
The story gets even stranger when one of Van Landeghem’s friends, who lives in Herenthout, reported a similar incident that he has been facing for almost the same length of time.
Van and his friend went to the local authorities to report the false deliveries and harassment. Both friends and local authorities think that the mystery pizza buyer is likely someone they both know. However the case is still unresolved.
He told the Dutch outlet that whenever the responsible behind this expensive prank is revealed, ‘it will not be their best day.”.
