Modes of Selling on Amazon:
There are three different modes of selling on Amazon:
1. Private Label
Sellers register their own brand and sell products under that brand name. These products are normally sourced from China.
2. Wholesale model
Sellers purchase bulk products of any brand from distributors and sell on amazon.
3. Online Arbitrage
Sellers purchase products of any brand from retailers (on discounted prices) and sell on amazon. These are not bulk purchases and profit margins are focused.
When someone has decided to start selling on Amazon, there are few basic terms that he/she should know before learning about how to sell. These terms include;
• ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number)
Amazon allots a unique identification number to every product being sold on Amazon.
• BSR (Best Seller Rank)
This rank shows how well a product is performing in that niche. The lower the BSR, the higher the sales would be.
• Ratings and Reviews
Customers provide feedback to the product purchased and rate with stars.
• FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon)
This is a service provided by Amazon where sellers can store there products in amazon warehouse. Once the order is received, amazon takes the responsibility of packing, shipping and delivering the product to the customer and also takes care of the subsequent returns (if any).
• FBM (Fulfillment by Merchant)
In this case, products are stored in seller’s warehouse (or third party) and seller takes the responsibility of product packing, shipping and delivering. Returns are also dealt by sellers.
On Amazon, the products are usually sold by:
a. Brands
b. Amazon
c. Wholesaler (either FBA or FBM)
