At low budget, cost-per-result looks great. Scale it up, and CPR suddenly goes unstable โ sometimes doubling.
Most advertisers think something broke. Usually, nothing did.
Here's what's actually happening:
Every audience has warmer and colder people in it. At low budget, your ad only reaches the warmest slice โ people who already know you. That's why CPR is low.
Increase the budget, and Meta has to reach more people to spend it. Colder people. CPR climbs with every step.
"So should I never run high budget?" Wrong question.
High budget doesn't fail because it's high. It fails when there's nobody left in the warm pool to spend it on.
It depends on market size:
* Big, in-demand market โ high budget performs well
* Small niche market โ high budget always struggles

1. ๐ฉ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฟ๐๐ โ raise budget ~20% at a time
2. ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ๐ป ๐ต๐ผ๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐น โ duplicate the campaign for more impressions
3. ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ๐ป ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ณ๐ ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ โ unlock audience your current ad never spoke to
If CPR still breaks after all three: check if it's still converting, just at higher cost. If yes, that's a scaling cost, not failure. If it's stopped converting completely โ not every product is built to scale.
Save this before your next scaling push.
