In Islam, animals do not move by free will like humans do. 🐧

They follow the fitrah Allah created for them.

If a creature walks toward hardship or death, it is not lost or rebellious. It is fulfilling a role written by Allah.

Nothing in creation is meaningless when everything exists by His command.

So yes! that penguin is not a rebel, a seeker, or a tragic hero. It is fulfilling a role written for it. If it walks toward danger, starvation, or death, it may be because:
its sustenance has ended,
another creature’s sustenance begins,
or balance in creation requires it.
From an Islamic lens, this is not nihilism at all. It’s submission.
What humans call “meaninglessness,” Islam reframes as:

precision

order

trust in Allah’s wisdom

The penguin doesn’t need to understand why it walks toward the mountains.

It doesn’t question fate.
It doesn’t despair.

That’s where the contrast with humans becomes sharp.

Humans do have free will and that’s the burden.

We struggle because we are asked to choose obedience, patience, and trust, while animals simply embody it.
So if someone looks at that image and sees a lonely creature walking to its end, a Muslim can calmly say

It is not going to die meaninglessly.
It is going exactly where Allah decreed it should go.
