Dr. A. Razzaq participated as a Resource Person in a one-day training workshop on preparation of project proposals for the Agricultural Linkages Program (ALP), organized by the Directorate General Agriculture Research Balochistan at ARI Sariab Quetta under the leadership of Dr. M. Qasam Kakar.

He shared practical insights on developing competitive research proposals, focusing on national priorities, methodology, budgeting, and impact-oriented agricultural research. Researchers from across Balochistan actively participated in the workshop to strengthen their capacity for securing federal agricultural R&D funding.

The Directorate General Agriculture Research Balochistan thanked Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) for its continued support in promoting agricultural research and innovation in the province.

🌱 4-Days Refresher Training on Hydroponics successfully conducted under the EU-funded RBWRP-TA project (15–19 May 2026).

Researchers from ARI, Directorate of Agriculture Research, BARDC, and Agriculture College participated in hands-on training on hydroponic system operation, nutrient management, and water quality assessment by an international hydroponics expert.

Dr. Qasim Kakar, Director General Agriculture Research Balochistan, appreciated RBWRP-TA for strengthening the technical capacity of researchers and emphasized that hydroponics is a vital climate-smart and water-efficient solution for the future of agriculture and food security in Balochistan.

Highlights from the “2nd International Conference on Plant Science and Management of Drylands for Agriculture and Biodiversity” held at the University of Balochistan, Quetta.

Dr. Muhammad Azam Kakar shared valuable insights on FAO’s role in sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and ongoing development initiatives across Baluchistan. An honorary shield was also presented to him in recognition of his contributions to the agriculture sector.

Full-Day Brainstorming Session on Research & Strategic Collaboration for the Uplift of Farming Communities

A high-level full-day brainstorming session on planned research activities under the Non-Development Budget 2026–27 was held at ARI Sariab Quetta under the chairmanship of Dr. Muhammad Qasim Kakar, Director General Agriculture Research Balochistan.

The meeting was organized in line with the vision of the Government of Balochistan to strengthen agricultural research, farmer support services, climate-resilient agriculture, seed production, horticultural nurseries, and sustainable rural development across the province.

Researchers and focal persons from across Balochistan participated in detailed discussions on practical, farmer-oriented research initiatives, ALP-PARC project proposals, resource mobilization, and collaboration with national and international organizations to enhance research funding and support farming communities across Balochistan.

Special emphasis was placed on innovative agricultural solutions, technology transfer, climate-smart farming practices, capacity building of farming communities, and strengthening institutional linkages to improve agricultural productivity and rural livelihoods in the province.

A one-day workshop on Climate Change, Food Security, and Anticipatory Action was organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization under the EU-funded Integrated Disaster Preparedness for Resilience Building Project in Nushki District, Balochistan. The workshop focused on Drought Risk Reduction and Anticipatory Action and was held at BUITEMS.

The event was chaired by Dr. Qasam Kakar, who emphasized the urgent need for early and proactive measures to address climate change risks in the province. He further highlighted the vital role of Agriculture Research in supporting national and international development partners in designing and implementing climate-smart agriculture initiatives.

During the workshop, Dr. Abdul Hakeem delivered a comprehensive presentation on prevailing water scarcity, emerging climatic challenges, and potential opportunities for sustainable agricultural development in Balochistan. The session encouraged dialogue among stakeholders on strengthening resilience and preparedness against climate-induced disasters.
