TikTok Ban: What It Means and What You Can Learn From It

By now, you’ve probably seen the news. The Supreme Court has passed a support of banning TikTok in the U.S., and the ban is set to take effect 𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸.

While there’s still a chance something could change—like a U.S.-based buyout of TikTok’s operations—the ban seems very likely at the moment.

This news is especially tough for creators and businesses that rely heavily (or entirely) on TikTok.

𝐒𝐨, 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐰?

This situation is a wake-up call for anyone using social media platforms to grow their brand or business. Platforms can be banned, go bankrupt, or lose users, especially when looking 10–15 years down the line. You need to be prepared.

Here’s what we can learn and do moving forward:

𝟏. 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞

- Don’t rely on a single platform. Spread your presence across multiple social media channels.

- Even if the same content doesn’t perform as well elsewhere, having it on another platform is better than 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨.

𝟐. 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐓𝐢𝐤𝐓𝐨𝐤 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭

- Move your existing TikTok videos to other short-form video platforms.

- Start uploading now to keep your audience engaged, even if TikTok is banned.

𝟑. 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞

- Build a presence on multiple platforms to safeguard your business.

- Understand the risks of social media platforms being run by corporations. At the end of the day, you don’t own the platform—you’re at their mercy.

𝟒. 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲

- Find ways to connect with your audience outside of social media. Build an email list, create a community on platforms you own, or explore alternatives like Discord or Slack.

- This ensures that you don’t lose your entire audience if one platform disappears.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲

This TikTok ban is a reminder that social media platforms are tools, not guarantees. Diversify, plan ahead, and take control of your audience to ensure your business thrives—no matter what happens. Other governments might follow the U.S.’s lead, so acting now isn’t just smart—it’s essential.

Good luck.

How Seth Godin Has Written a Blog Post Every Day for Over 19 years. How?

𝐒𝐞𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐧’𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞:

He made a decision—to write every single day.

It all started in 1995.

Seth began with a small email newsletter, originally written for his grandmother. His audience was tiny—around 40 people.

But with time and consistency, more readers began to notice.

And here’s the interesting part:

Seth doesn’t aim for perfection. He writes because it’s part of his routine.
The more he wrote, the less he worried about perfection. The focus shifted to progress.

In his book The Practice, Seth explains how 𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐦.
It’s not about aiming for major breakthroughs every day.
It’s about showing up—again and again.

His early posts were like personal journal entries.
Then, around day 100, something clicked. 𝐇𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞.
From tech to daily experiences, his style began to emerge.

𝐀𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭, 𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐝𝐚𝐲.
But readers felt overwhelmed.
So, he adjusted—settling into a rhythm of one post a day.
Just enough to keep people engaged without overloading them.

What’s remarkable is that Seth’s blog was 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲.
For him, writing is a discipline, a practice—not a monetization strategy.

It all started as a simple email newsletter, and over time, it grew.
After meeting Joey Ito and learning about Typepad, Seth transitioned his newsletter into a public blog.

Through it all, Seth has stayed true to his purpose.
He listens to feedback but always writes for himself.

Today, his blog is one of the most influential out there—not because he chased a massive audience, but because he showed up every day.

A legacy built on consistency and dedication.

Ultimate Step-by-step system to create 10 pieces of content from 1 idea:

1. 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭
The first step is to create a macro piece of content, which is the foundation of everything that follows (longer than 10+ min):

• YouTube video
• Podcast
• Blog post

2. 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐈𝐭 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭
Once your macro content is created, you can repurpose it into multiple text-based formats:

• 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐠 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭: Convert your script into a blog.
• 𝐄𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫: convert into emails for your subscribers.
• 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭: Craft captions or carousels, breaking down insights into digestible tips.

𝟑. 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭-𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐕𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨𝐬
Your macro content can be broken down into several short videos:

• TikTok
• YouTube Shorts
• Instagram Reels
• Instagram Story (create a brief teaser linking to the main content)

4. 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭-𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐕𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨𝐬
Instead of creating just one short video, you can produce multiple clips. For instance, if your content contains three key tips, create one short-form video for each tip.

3 short-form videos, one for each tip from the main content, will provide:
• 3 TikToks
• 3 YouTube Shorts
• 3 Instagram Reels

You’ve now created 9 pieces of content from one macro video.

𝟓. 𝐌𝐚𝐱𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭
Beyond video, you can also multiply your text content:

Captions or Carousel Posts for Each Tip (Instead of summarizing all tips in one post).

𝟔. 𝐀𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭
If YouTube isn’t your thing, you can still follow this system with:

• Blog Posts → Create carousels, short videos, and posts.
• Podcasts → Turn audio into short-form clips, blogs, and emails.

𝟕. 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞
Take your best-performing content and give a new spin to it.

That’s how you dominate content creation. 📈

3 Ways to Establish Credibility as a New Professional Advisor:

Getting started as an advisor can feel like an uphill battle.

You need clients to build trust. But you need trust to gain clients.

🔁 It's a loop problem.

So how do you break out this loop? Here's my advice:

𝟏. 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐒𝐢𝐳𝐞

When clients look for an advisor, they want proof. The more clients you work with, the more testimonials you can collect. The more testimonials you collect the larger scale projects you can work on.

𝟐. 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬

Results matter to potential clients. Make sure you document the impact you have for your clients:
- Example: “Saved $10,000 in property taxes on a client's property sale.”
- Use: Before/ After
- Create detailed client case studies walking through your unique approach for your client's problem

𝟑. 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 (𝐕𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭!)

People are very very wary these days—written testimonials are easy to fake. You just write something slap a photo of a random person, add a name, and there you go a 'testimonial'.

Video testimonials, on the other hand, show your client is a real person, and it's easier to answer potential client pain points with strategic questions you ask your client. (Tomorrow, I'll share my favorite interview questions.)

Any other strategies you use?

A brand is like a Piña Colada.

You've got a glass.

It's clean, clear, pretty basic right now.
But what makes this glass special?

If it had a drink in it—
Let's say a 𝐩𝐢ñ𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐚.

What makes a great piña colada?
The ingredients.
- Frozen pineapples
- Coconut cream
- Haitian rum
- Ice
- A slice of pineapple for presentation

Now imagine you're at a gathering, holding this perfectly presented shot.

Your friends notice and say, “Wow, that looks great!”
Suddenly, your drink becomes desirable.

They ask, "What’s in it?"
You respond: rum, pineapple, coconut cream

Now, they're raving about it.

What happens next?

They head to the bar, get the same drink, and after a few sips, they tell their friends.

You are the clear glass.
It holds your skills, talents, value, experiences, and stories.

The garnish?
That’s your image—how you present yourself to the world.

A 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 is what makes 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘺𝘰𝘶.

If a Founder is just starting out building their brand on social media, generating leads from the initial posts will be challenging—almost impossible.

Tracking leads at the beginning may be difficult because there likely won't be any.

Focus on building an initial audience within your network.

These are people who might know potential clients or be interested in your services. If you know any prospects, invite them to follow your social media accounts. This helps them become familiar with you, build trust, and eventually convert into leads.

How I Grabbed the Attention of a LinkedIn Influencer, Chris Do, with 500,000+ Followers:

1. Leverage Relevant Brands
In my recent post, I talked about my top four favourite personal brands. Why? Because it connects directly with what I do—personal brand building. It also aligns with influencers like Chris Do, who I respect and believe my audience can learn from.

2. Targeted Content
I created content that was valuable not only for my audience but also tagged these influencers in the post, among them Chris.

3. Social Proof at Play
When Chris commented, LinkedIn’s algorithm pushed my post to his followers' feeds. This gave me a ton of impressions, not only from his audience but also from LinkedIn’s boosted visibility due to the engagement.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧: 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬
Tagging influencers or brands in your posts can grab their attention, especially when your content is valuable and aligns with what they do. Even if they don’t respond, it’s a chance to amplify your reach and add credibility to your content by associating with recognizable names.

Give it a try. You never know who might respond.

Great reasons to NOT be on Social Media:
👇

→ Your target audience loves sending and receiving smoke signals.
→ You prefer sending messages by carrier pigeon.
→ You believe socializing should only happen in person.
→ Your marketing team consists of your grandma's knitting circle, and they just don't get hashtags. .. .. .. .. ..
(Hmm... still not convinced! 😆)

How to create unique ideas for anything! ~ Christopher Nolan

Let’s be real...
Everything has already been said on social media.

OK, so should we pack our bags, give up on content marketing, and say bye, bye?

Hold your horses.

There’s something you can do:

Take those same ideas and add your own twist.

Here's how:

𝟏. 𝐏𝐮𝐭 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐭

→ Look at the topic from a different angle
→ Find a unique perspective

𝟐. 𝐒𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲
→ Use your own words
→ Change the tone and format

𝟑. 𝐒𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞

→ Be authentic and relatable
→ Add your personality

𝟒. 𝐀𝐝𝐝 𝐚 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲

→ Share your experiences
→ Make it personal and engaging

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞...

How? With AI.

And no, I don’t just go to ChatGPT and ask, “write me 5 posts for my LinkedIn.”

That’s going to give you something generic—just an average of most blog posts.

Here’s what I do:

𝟏. 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞

→ Gather data from your existing content (articles, written posts, transcribe your videos etc.)
→ Understand your brand and voice

𝟐. 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨𝐬, 𝐩𝐨𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐬, 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐠 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬)
→ Use your previous work to teach the AI
→ Ensure it captures your style

𝟑. 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞
→ Produce posts that sound like you
→ Maintain consistency in your messaging

Formula:

𝐄𝐱𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬 + 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞 + 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 = 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭.

This is exactly what we do at Staudt Media.
