We’ve been nominated in the Game Changers plebiscite by Wrocławskie Fakty! 🙌 And here’s the thing: today is the last day of voting. We’re currently in the 2nd place... let’s push it to the top! 🔥

Voting takes just a few seconds 👉 https://gamechangers.wroclawskiefakty.pl/glosowanie/

What is Game Changers about? It’s not your typical contest. It’s about people and projects that don’t ask “is it possible?” but rather “how do we make it happen?” 💡

It celebrates those who:

🚀 challenge the status quo

🌍 create real impact

🔥 inspire others and shape the future before it becomes obvious

If you believe in what we do, we’d really appreciate your vote! Let’s change the game together 💪

What’s the recipe for crafting responsible innovation and technology? 🤖

It’s hard to say there’s a single formula, but one thing is clear: we need to think about impact from the very beginning, not at the end.

This was the focus of the closing plenary session at the CRAFTing Human–Tech–Society conference, where we brought together perspectives from business, academia, and government to reflect on how we design technology that truly serves society.

We heard from:
🎤 Monika Byrtek (AI Philosopher, AI Futures Lab, Capgemini)
🎤 Kamil Pruchnik, PhD (European Investment Fund – EIF)
🎤 Prof. Katarzyna Sznajd-Weron (Wrocław University of Science and Technology)
🎤 Moderated by Paweł Sawicki (BPX)

A fitting close to the conference. Bringing everything back to one core idea: innovation only matters when it is built with awareness of its impact on people and society 🌍

🎓 During our conference, we gave the stage to 15 researchers presenting their work in thematic sessions. The presentations truly highlighted the power of cross-disciplinary collaboration and open dialogue 🌍

From AI in creative work, through agritech innovations, to disinformation detection, the range of topics showed just how broad and relevant today’s research is. Huge applause to:
👏 Edyta Jadowska, Kamil Dąbrowski, Żaneta Żegleń, Dawid Linek, Agnieszka Galarowicz, Marylise Bougaret, Jędrzej Cieślak, Karina Stasiuk-Krajewska and Agnieszka Dziob-Zadworna

With an international audience, the conversations went far beyond presentations, turning into engaging discussions, diverse perspectives, and real connections between science and impact.

🙏 A big thank you to our session chairs: Rafał Miśko, Joanna Szustakiewicz, and Kamila Brylak, for guiding the discussions and creating such an inspiring environment for sharing ideas.

💡 How do we craft real societal impact from science and innovation? And how do we make sure it stays ethical?

These were the key questions behind the plenary keynote session on Day 4 of the CRAFTing Human–Tech–Society conference.

On stage, we had three outstanding experts sharing their perspectives:
🎤 Jennifer Cassingena Harper, PhD - Xjenza Malta
🎤 Tomasz Szarek - SDZLEGAL Schindhelm
🎤 James Wilson - Capgemini

The discussion, expertly moderated by Hanna Polanowska from Tech To The Rescue, brought together insights from policy, law, and AI practice.

👉 The key takeaway? Don’t get carried away by the hype around AI and emerging technologies. Instead, embrace legal frameworks and ethical considerations from the very beginning, not as an afterthought.

🎓 During our CRAFTing Human–Tech–Society conference, we made sure one voice could not be missed: students! We gave the stage to PhD candidates and Master’s students, who had just 3 minutes to present how their research creates real impact on society ⏱️

And time pressure wasn’t the only challenge! They also faced questions and feedback from a jury of experts representing business, academia, and government.

Huge congratulations to all participants for their innovative projects and the courage to step on stage! 👏

🏆 Special applause goes to our winners:
🥇 Kamil Dąbrowski – Doctoral Category
🥇 Alicja Otfinowska – Master’s Category

A big thank you as well to our partners of CRAFT 180 for supporting the winners: Aquapark Wrocław, Hampton by Hilton and Dolnośląskie Centrum Druku 3D

💡 How do we measure the true impact of technology and innovation on society? And is it even possible? These were the key questions driving our plenary session on day two of the International Conference on Human–Tech–Society.

The morning session, hosted by Olga Voropai, PhD, brought together perspectives from academia, business, and government, creating a truly multidimensional discussion on how to assess real societal impact.

Incredible insights were shared by:
🎤 Michal Adamski from Capgemini
🎤 Prof. Luke Georghiou representing The University of Manchester
🎤 Joanna Sterzynska-Lindberg from European Commission Representation in Wrocław

A powerful conversation that showed just how complex, and important, it is to move beyond simple metrics and truly understand the value innovation brings to society 🌍

🚀 We’ve officially inaugurated the International Conference on Human–Tech–Society! The beautiful Aula at Wrocław University of Science and Technology set the stage for an inspiring start — bringing together perspectives from academia, business, and government to discuss our relationship with technology.

The conference opened with welcome remarks from Yash Chawla (Head of CRAFT), Prof. Anna Kowalska-Pyzalska (Dean of the Faculty of Management), and Prof. Arkadiusz Wójs (Rector), along with a special video message from Michiel Scheffer, President of the European Innovation Council Board.

We then moved into powerful keynote speeches and a panel discussion on “CRAFTing human values in research, innovation and development” featuring:
🎤 Prof. Christina Garsten (Uppsala University / SCAS)
🎤 Dominika Kawala (3M Wrocław Superhub)
🎤 Jakub Mazur (Deputy Mayor of Wrocław)
Moderated by Yash Chawla — and enriched by great questions from the audience 💬

And that’s not all — as a warm-up, we also had the Inspiration Conference organized by the Student Government, setting the tone for the days ahead!

What a day — and we’re just getting started!
