Zoha clutched her worn scarf tighter as she trudged through the snow. Not for warmth—the threadbare wool could barely manage that anymore—but for courage. It was the last thing she had from before.

The mountains loomed like giants against the pale sky, watching her tiny figure move across the vast whiteness. Only her footprints marked the untouched snow, a lonely trail pointing forward because there was nowhere else to go.

Seven steps behind, the wolf followed. Silver-gray and silent as fog. Zoha never looked back directly, but she felt its presence like a hand between her shoulder blades.

Her village was gone now. No path led back to where it once stood. Just endless silence and the soft crunch of snow beneath her boots.

Sometimes the wolf’s eyes caught the weak winter light and flashed amber—just like her brother’s once had. Maybe it was him watching over her, or maybe it was just the part of her heart that refused to believe she was truly alone.

Either way, Zoha walked on. And the shadow wolf followed, leaving no tracks in the snow.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ 🇵🇸
