July is the month no one looks for — and perhaps that's why it's the most honest.
No harvest, no blossom, no visible activity. Just extreme heat, silence, and tiny olives the size of a corn kernel fighting for whatever water remains in the soil.
July is when the harvest is decided. Water stress separates good years from poor ones. Here, in the Trás-os-Montes interior, at 35-40°C under a sharp blue sky, the olive tree reveals what it truly is: a survivor.
If you only visit Trás-os-Montes in the "pretty" months, you'll miss this — the month when you truly understand what it means to depend on nature.
