DESENVOLVIMENTO DA HERDADE DOS LAGOS

A Herdade dos Lagos pertence à família Zeppenfeld há mais de quarenta anos. Ao longo do tempo, a propriedade foi alvo de muitas alterações. A região do Alentejo está situada no sul de Portugal e era antigamente considerada o celeiro de Portugal, pelo que a atividade principal da herdade foi sempre a agricultura. Quando o armador de Bremen Horst Zeppenfeld, na altura capitão, se rendeu a Portugal, tinha já um sonho: cultivar vinhas e olivais. A sua família trabalha continuamente para a concretização desse sonho. Atualmente, uma área de 1000 hectares de agricultura biológica, com as suas cinco barragens serve de pastagem a cerca de 1000 ovelhas, mas em primeiro plano está o cultivo da vinha, da oliveira e da alfarroba. Na família, a filha, Antje Kreikenbaum, assumiu os departamentos de marketing e distribuição dos produtos da Herdade dos Lagos, bem como a responsabilidade de promover novas perspectivas, com o apoio do marido, o arquiteto paisagista Thorsten Kreikenbaum. A transição para a produção biológica revelou ser um enorme desafio e uma das mais significativas mudanças na Herdade. Por isso, aproveitamos as excelentes condições que podem ser encontradas no Alentejo, com os seus vastos terrenos virgens e recursos naturais preservados. Isto traduz-se em vinhos e produtos naturais que proporcionam um prazer sem reservas.

This is the day of the autumn equinox when day and night are of equal length, making it perfect for symbolizing the balance between agriculture and the environment, which is what organic production should be all about. It aims to encourage a type of sustainable farming where food production is done in harmony with nature, biodiversity, and animal welfare.

Herdade dos Lagos is honoured to take part as an invited speaker, sharing our vision of w**e, biodiversity, landscape regeneration and meaningful w**e tourism experiences.
