It is essential to understand that no one knows all the answers, that no organisation is ready, that we are all learning together. The certainty is that we increasingly need integrated actions and systemic thinking to deal with the ecological and social challenges of our time.
There is no doubt that human activity is responsible for the problems we are facing. For a long time now, we've been consuming more than we have, more than the planet can replenish. And our time is up.
Sustainability as we know it no longer serves. Doing less damage is no longer enough. The future of sustainability lies in regeneration: seeking to restore and replace what we've lost, build economies and communities that thrive and that allow the planet to thrive as well.
"Regeneration is about healing the future, because that's what life does without exception, and we are life, and we need to recognize this innate quality within us, our intelligence and capacity, and implement it at all levels of social, political and economic activity."
The future of sustainability will focus on regeneration.
