This is for Arthur, a bear who fell prey to the poaching of people that the law hardly touches. Rest in peace Arthur.
Arthur was 17 years old and was the largest bear observed in Romania and probably the largest one alive in the European Union.
The Austrian prince Emanuel von und zu Liechtenstein came to Romania in March, and, for a fee of 7,000 euros, bought the killing of the biggest bear by the derogation offered by the Romanian Ministry of Environment for the elimination of a bear with cubs that allegedly caused damage last year to some farms in Ojdula, Covasna County.
