A target audience includes many variables such as geographic location, age, gender, interest, income, etc., and is used when marketing your products or services to a wider audience, that includes people who match your ideal client profile besides those who may share interest in what you are selling.
To define your target audience, you must first carefully analyze your product or service in terms of whom might find it useful or of interest. You can also gain insight on your target audience by analyzing the audience of your competitors, or through studying your own clients.
The importance of a target audience lies in providing an approach to share your message to the right audience.
The target audience approach’s main downfall is its assumption that all clients who belong to the same demographic or geographic location share similar interests. However, a target audience still provides an important guideline that helps you understand your business and opens new horizons to think of various methods to reach more interested customers."
