Through our work within Paid Search for KICKS and Paid Social for Nelly.com, Docklin was nominated in no less than 6 categories in the Global Agency Awards 🙌

At Docklin we believe that our job as performance marketers is to find the optimal balance between automation and control - to make ad platform algorithms create as much business value for our clients as possible. There is a sentiment among parts of our industry that performance is becoming automated and that our control is limited. But it does not have to be.

By activating first party data in a smart and automated way, Docklin managed to boost performance through two highly automated campaign types - Performance Max on Google for KICKS and Dynamic Product Ads on Meta for Nelly.

Can advertising on TikTok drive conversions? 📈 Last week, Nelly Röder, Matilda Daka and George Ringström attended TikTok’s breakfast lecture to hear what the platform had to say on this topic ✏️

Digital Marketing is an ever-shifting landscape. What was state of the art yesterday can be outdated by tomorrow. It’s therefore extremely important to always stay up to date on the product offerings of each advertising platform.

New functions are constantly released. This means historic “truths” about a platform may no longer be well…true. So the question each marketer needs to ask her/himself is “Am I making the most of each advertising platform? Or am I erroneously discarding opportunities because of outdated assumptions?”

Ever done digital marketing from the back of a snowmobile? ❄️💻

This past week, all of Docklin hopped on a night train and ventured north to Åre. During three high-paced days, we mixed workshops and discussions with winter swimming, open-air cooking and skiing. Oh, and the snowmobiles of course. Those things can go upwards faster than a click curve on Black Friday! 🏔️📈

In our workshops, we focused on factors that makes your workplace great. More specifically, we dived deep into the questions of how to generate inspiring paths to personal development, how to create a flourishing feedback culture and how to limit stress in a 24/7 marketing industry. A key factor in driving external results is to have the right conditions in place within the organisation. And that, is what we went in search for in the Subarctic!

Can your brain think new thoughts? You’d be surprised at how hard it is 🤔

At Docklin’s monthly Learning Day, Daniel Collin (Coach My Brain) came and gave a great talk on the complexities of our brain. Through fun and interactive exercises, Daniel showed us how much our mind likes to do the same thing over and over again.

The challenge, for which Daniel provided us useful tools to approach, is therefore to learn how to think new thoughts. Stuck with a task at work? Unless you actively know how to activate that “think-different” feature in your head, your brain will never give you a new perspective.

The monthly Docklin Learning Day is about finding solutions to complex problems. The above activity was a great way of giving a spark to the innovation these complex problems require!

As an example, last year’s launch of Pmax in Google ads presented advertisers with great possibilities, but also various challenges. Delivering results in a challenging macroeconomic environment. That and other topics were on the agenda when Docklin partner Erik Bolmstrand, together with Sandra Kinge (CMO Apollo) and Ulrika Klinkert (CMO Rugvista), sat in the panel at last week’s Google Uncover event at Fotografiska.

Other speakers that delivered insightful sessions at the event were Anna Wikland (Country Director) and Murtaza Lukmani (Product Lead Performance Max) from Google as well as Sara Wimmercranz (co-founder Footway and founding partner at BackingMinds). Erik and the other speakers discussed what the biggest trends are right now within digital marketing.

Recurring themes throughout the afternoon were:

👉 Great is the new good. To deliver on targets in these economically adverse times, you have to be on top of your game. This means seeing over all of your processes, best practices and ways of working. Subpar performance on any of those will quickly bring you down.

👉 The going's getting tough. The economy is on a downward trajectory. It’s showing in the numbers for more and more advertisers. At the same time, this might be the time to leapfrog your competitors if you're bringing your a-game.

👉 Unlocking the potential of automation. Online advertising has now become a game of leveraging AI to your advantage. Gone are the days of manually micromanaging your campaigns. Those who do automation right will get ahead of competitors.
