✨NEW AUTHOR - TIINA LAITILA KÄLVEMARK✨

We are delighted to welcome adult fiction author Tiina Laitila Kälvemark to the agency. Tiina's forthcoming, sixth novel, THE SWEDISH LOVER (Ruotsalainen rakastaja, WSOY, September 2026, 250pp), is a compelling novel about a volatile relationship between Ellen and her secretive, artist colleague, P., who seems to see her more clearly than anyone else does. Ellen's weekly "Sunday Club" meet-ups with her girlfriends at the Rival hotel bar, where they discuss life, s*x and relationships, Sweden and Finland over G&Ts, cause her to question her relationships, not only with P. but also with love itself. What does she really mean when she talks about love and has she learned to ask for too little? Does the one who loves least have all the power?
THE SWEDISH LOVER is an absorbing novel about the need to be seen, power, and love with echoes of Wilful Disregard, Assymmetry, and Diary of a Ditched Girl.

Tiina Laitila Kälvemark is a Stockholm-based writer and journalist originally from Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland. She debuted in 2012 with a story collection and has published four subsequent novels to critical acclaim and numerous nominations for Nordic literary awards. Her work is characterised by themes of Swedish-Finnishness, migration and rootlessness, as well as globalisation and nomadism in a broader perspective.

THE SWEDISH LOVER will be on submission soon. For rights enquiries, contact [email protected]

The 2026 Moomin's Day mug from Moomin Arabia 🍂

In this year’s Moomin's Day illustration, strong winds blow in Moominvalley. The autumn-themed mug is a tribute to Tove Slotte, who made a distinguished thirty-year career as the Moomin mug illustrator before retiring. The mug will be remembered as Slotte’s last Moomin mug design. The illustration is based on Tove Jansson’s “Moomin’s Winter Follies” comic from 1955.

The limited edition mug and the other items will become available on the eve of Moomin’s day, Saturday, 8th August.

Double Win for the Principal at the 2026 Stories: Children's Award Ceremony!

The award-winning middle-grade novel The Principal continues its success in Iceland with two wins at the Stories: Children's Award Ceremony (Sögur: verðlaunahátíð barnanna) last weekend.

The annual Stories: Children's Award Ceremony honours exceptional achievements in children's culture in Iceland across ten categories, with children themselves choosing the winners. The awards are based on the results of a nationwide children's vote that recognises the best and most entertaining cultural content for children from the past year. The winners were announced on May 30 during the ceremony held at the Reykjavík City Theatre, which was broadcast live on RÚV.

Writer Ævar Þór Benediktsson received the Book of the Year Award, while illustrator Elín Elísabet Einarsdóttir was honoured with the Illustration of the Year Award.

Our warmest congratulations to both!

Leena Järvenpää's debut title Treasured Moments with Grandmother: Insights and Inspiration for All Ages (Ihmeellinen isoäiti: ideoita ja oivalluksia yhteisiin hetkiin, WSOY 2026) was celebrated earlier this week at a book launch party 🌸

Some of childhood's most magical memories are created in the simple moments spent with grandparents. Written by Leena Järvenpää, with a long-term career in publishing and children's education, this book offers timeless childhood joy, along with unique tips and ideas for spending time with grandchildren to create lifelong memories. Each page, featuring creative and fun ideas and real-life memories by Järvenpää, grandmother of seven grandchildren, is paired with the internationally renowned Ilon Wikland's illustrations, most of which have never been published in Finland before. Treasured Moments with Grandmother celebrates childhood, the special bond between children and their grandparents, and how an ordinary day can turn into a great adventure.

Ilon Wikland's daughter, Birgitta, also attended the celebration on behalf of Ilon Wikland and the family.

Congrats to everyone involved in creating this gem.
