10 years ago, in spring 2016, we launched the project Speaking Memories, in cooperation with Historiska Museet, Paideia and FFÖ, that consisted of workshops and seminars with Holocaust survivors. That project developed into the exhibition The Last Witnesses of the Holocaust (2019) in cooperation with USC Shoah Foundation and Auschwitz -Birkenau State Museum. The next step was to produce the interactive biographies Dimensions in Testimony in the Swedish language which we did (2020) interviewing Tobias Rawet and Elisabeth Citrom, in cooperation with Statens Historiska Museer and with the support of the Swedish government and of Ulrika and Joel Citron. That life changing project, which ultimately lead to the establishment of the Swedish Holocaust Museum, thanks to the great efforts of Max Safir (1925-2020) and commitment by Prime Minister Stefan Löfven, could not have materialized today. The climate was very different. We were blessed by having many active survivors with us back then. We miss them terribly, more so in our time of history distortion, revisionism and competition of memories. On this Yom Hashoah we wish good health to the survivors who are among us and who continue to brighten our lives. .scheja .se .europe
