It took me awhile to put this out, but I think it needs to be shared.
For years, I felt like something was wrong with me. Executive function tasks my peers did easily - staying focused, organizing and planning, going through life without chronic worrying - felt like climbing mountains for me.
Was I just too soft? A strawberry generation kid who couldn’t handle real life?
Turns out, no. My brain just works differently. (& God probably had other plans for me, too)
After several rounds of therapy and a focus on deep inner work, here’s what I learnt:
The same brain that made traditional paths difficult is the same brain that helps me break down complex design concepts for beginners. The anxiety that made me question everything taught me to create the safe, judgment-free learning spaces I wished I had.
9 years later, I’ve taught thousands, and at pretty cool places too. Not despite the struggles, but because I learnt to work WITH my wiring instead of against it.
If you’re building something while battling your own stuff - keep going. Your ‘different’ might be exactly what makes you brilliant at what you do.
May 2026 bring you the courage to keep building, the compassion to work with yourself (not against), and the clarity to see your struggles as the very thing that makes your work matter. 😌
Happy new year!
