Singapore Airlines and DHL Express have signed a Crew and Maintenance agreement today, further deepening its long-standing partnership.

Under the agreement, SIA will operate and oversee the maintenance of five Boeing 777 freighters on behalf of DHL Express; with the first aircraft delivery from July 2022. The freighters, which will sport a dual DHL-SIA livery, will be operated by our pilots to the United States via points in North Asia.

Basing these freighters at Changi Airport will further reinforce Singapore’s position as a key air cargo and e-commerce logistics hub, contributing to its growth and development.

CMA CGM Group, a world-leader in shipping and logistics, and Airbus have signed a binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the purchase of four A350F freighter aircraft. The order, which is subject to finalisation in the coming weeks, will lift CMA CGM’s total Airbus fleet to nine aircraft, including five A330-200F.

The aircraft will be operated by CMA CGM AIR CARGO, the recently launched air cargo activity of CMA CGM Group.

With a 109t payload capability (+3t payload/ 11% more volume than its competition), the A350F serves all cargo markets (Express, general cargo, special cargo…) and is in the large freighter category the only new generation freighter aircraft ready for the enhanced 2027 ICAO CO₂ emissions standards.

A.P. Moller - Maersk (Maersk) announced yesterday that the company has intended to acquire SENATOR INTERNATIONAL Freight Forwarding, a well-renowned global freight forwarding company with a strong air freight offering.

Furthermore, to expand its own controlled air network, Maersk is adding aircraft to its operations: three leased cargo planes to be operational from 2022 and two newbuilding Boeing aircraft to be deployed by 2024.

The announcement came on the back of supply chain crisis notably in the USA with delays at ports resulting in possible downstream repercussions and also on the back of inflationary environment. The acquisition of air freight seems to be designed to alleviate some congestions in the sea freight segment and to take advantage of the robust consumer demands.

FedEx announced that the company has teamed up with Aurora and PACCAR to Test Autonomous Linehaul Technology. FedEx will test Aurora’s autonomous driving technology in PACCAR state-of-the-art Autonomous Vehicle Platform (AVP) equipped trucks within FedEx linehaul trucking operations.

This commercial application of Aurora’s Driver technology is the latest addition to the FedEx portfolio of autonomous and robotics solutions, as the company continues to experience record delivery volumes.

The exponential growth of e-commerce has accelerated the demand for reliable, efficient transportation and logistics solutions throughout all stages of the supply chain. FedEx believes that continued innovation and automation will improve safety, efficiency, and productivity for the company’s more than 560,000 team members as they continue to move the world forward.

This is an industry-first three-way collaboration between a logistics provider, autonomous technology developer and a truck manufacturer. The pilot begins today and will run along FedEx Dallas-Houston parcel lanes, completing the nearly 500-mile round trip route multiple times each week. The trucks will operate autonomously, with a backup driver for additional safety.
