AUSTRALIA: Two birds, one Sydney visit.

Bridges M&C Regional Account Director John Battersby was in Australia recently to oversee the filming of aesthetic medicine experts Dr Niamh Corduff and Dr Stephen Lowe for a regional project that will make its debut at the Aesthetic & Anti-Aging Medicine World Congress (AMWC) in Bangkok this November.

While there John also took the opportunity to catch up with agency partner Paul Jans of VIVA! Communications, with more to share soon on a development that will further strengthen our regional footprint across the Asia-Pacific region.

SINGAPORE: A full house and a genuinely Southeast Asian conversation although the panellists are from Singapore!

Bridges M&C Regional Account Director Nan Eliana recently moderated the RehaCare Conversations panel: Beyond Hospital to Community: From Prescription to Participation – Building an Integrated Preventive Health Ecosystem. at the 2026 iteration of MEDICAL FAIR ASIA at Marina Bay Sands.

The session was oversubscribed, and the discussion quickly moved beyond a Singapore-only perspective. While most panellists were Singapore-based, audience members from Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines added their own experiences through questions, comments and comparisons.

This widened the discussion from Singapore’s approach to preventive health, exercise prescription, social prescribing, community participation and data, to a broader question: what can realistically be adapted across different healthcare systems and community settings in Southeast Asia.

SINGAPORE: Bridges M&C Regional Account Director Nan Eliana will be moderating the RehaCare Conversations panel on Beyond Hospital to Community: From Prescription to Participation – Building an Integrated Preventive Health Ecosystem at the 2026 iteration of MEDICAL FAIR ASIA from 9 to 11 September Marina Bay Sands.

The session will examine what it takes to translate exercise, a key component of preventive health, beyond the clinic; from prescription and referral to participation, sustained behaviour change, community support and meaningful feedback into care.

The discussion will also consider what Singapore’s experience can offer the wider Southeast Asian region.

SEA: Can we spot the next vector-borne disease outbreak before cases begin to climb?

Across Southeast Asia, changing temperatures, rainfall patterns and urbanisation are making diseases such as dengue and Zika increasingly difficult to predict. At the same time, new sources of data are creating opportunities to identify where risks may be emerging earlier.

But prediction is only useful if we can act on it. And when vaccines can take years to develop, waiting for the next outbreak may already be too late.

MALAYSIA: What does it mean to seek medical help for obesity? Yesterday, Bridges M&C brought this conversation to life at our expert panel discussion, “From Myth to Medical Care: Rethinking Obesity Treatment.”

One of the highlights of the session was hearing from well-known Malaysian actor and politician Dato Afdlin Shauki, who spoke candidly about his own weight journey and experience undergoing bariatric surgery, alongside his surgeon, Dr Mustafa Mohammed Taher Al-Khafaji, Upper GI & Bariatric Surgeon. This conversation brought an important message to the forefront that obesity is a complex, chronic disease, and managing it is not simply a matter of willpower.

The panel also featured Registered Dietitian Mr Ng Kar Foo, who highlighted the importance of medical nutrition therapy and ongoing patient support in obesity care. Nanny Eliana, our Account Director moderated the panel discussion.

APAC: As populations age and chronic illnesses rise, the need for palliative care is growing across Asia. Yet limited awareness, late referrals, workforce shortages and cultural discomfort around death and dying continue to delay support for patients and families.

It is now essential to normalise conversations around death and dying, so that dying well becomes recognised as an integral part of living well.

MALAYSIA: After a hard day's work at a press conference, the Bridges M&C team gathered for a round of drinks at the Hilton, followed by nasi kandar at Hameediyah.

There was quite a lot to debrief.

Our Account Manager Sarah Selvarajah had moved her car while waiting for press materials to be photocopied, only for a motorcycle to fall on the car that took her original spot.

Regional Account Director Nan Eliana arrived at KL Sentral's arrival hall to find a mat salleh hijacking her Grab. The driver had to circle back, kick him out and pick her up. Imagine this at 2.5x play speed.

The plus? We had more attendees than expected despite one or two cancellations, secured some excellent coverage, and somehow cruised into Hameediyah just before the rush-hour traffic hit Bukit Bintang!

We will take the wins where we can get them. 😆
