Thrilled to have had the opportunity to sit in the 'hot seat' at a recent social media module for SMU Academy.

I had the pleasure of sharing my insights as a creator & marketer on how to navigate these platforms effectively, capitalizing on their unique algorithms, user behavior, and content trends with representatives from multinational corporations and government entities.

One focal point was the strategic application of the Pareto Principle in content creation.

I emphasized that initially, the success on any platform of social media lies in the formulation of a compelling idea and effective delivery of the idea. All other elements, though important, come secondary in the initial stages.

I noticed that many Singaporean brands were joining TikTok but weren't creating engaging content.

I decided to try it out myself and test my hypothesis by creating an account in a niche I knew well: fashion.

After just one month, I can confidently say it has been a resounding success.

3,422 followers
467k video views
30.3k likes
37.95% engagement rate (international average is 4.25%)

After talking to business owners, I realize some assume that once you get someone to take over your marketing (be it an agency, or you hire someone on your staff), you don't have to do anything and the new prospects will start rolling in.

That is the furthest thing from the truth.

You have to realize that at the very most, marketing will bring you inquiries.

If you want new customers/clients, you have to put in the work on your end. This means that you need to learn how to SELL.

I created this easy overview of a standard funnel for people in the fitness industry who are still struggling with their marketing process.

By segmenting the process, I hope this helps you identify your bottlenecks and where you need to focus more on.

Our client was initially relying on organic growth - they engaged an SEO company and after 6 months, they were seeing 2-3 extra trials a week.

However, they wanted to talk about expansion, so they engaged us to get them more trials coming in the door to reach that dream quicker.

They gave us a goal: their morning and evening classes were doing fine, but their lunch time slots weren't getting enough members - they wanted to fill 'em up.

So fill 'em up we did.

Within 5 days of starting our campaign, we locked in 15 trial classes for them.

Not 15 leads, but 15 BOOKED trials - all eager to join their Muay Thai classes.

We're also on pace to hit 14 NEW trials every week, and we haven't even started optimizing anything yet.
