New warehouse style blocks will accommodate serviced apartments, while towering over it all, and with views along the river and towards the CBD the two 36 storey towers will house the 455 residential units.

In fact, a couple who are trying to sell their HDB flat in Hougang has asked their property agent, ERA Realty senior marketing director Davon Chai, to increase their asking price to $550,000 – way higher compared to $480,000 last transacted price of a similar unit nearby, reported Today Online.

“When some sellers look at these new grants, they get very optimistic and excited and end up raising prices based on HDB’s ballpark figure of the grants that buyers can get,” said Chai.

Several property agents, however, believe that such opportunistic moves will not work.

HDB said that for starters, they will try using 3D concrete printing for smaller components in precinct designs such as architectural features and landscape furniture in common areas at selected projects in Bidadari and Tengah.

These include 3D artwork panels and void deck designs and texture like customised rain and sun screens. Other possibilities include themed precinct furniture as well as curvilinear precinct pavilions. The technology could also one day see application in the construction of high-rise homes in the country.

This comes as HDB explores the feasibility of 3D-printed flats, including whether they could remain stable in the city-state’s climate
