The Asia Pacific region is undergoing one of the most significant demographic and economic transformations of our time. Published every five years, the report highlights a silver economy projected to grow from US$4 trillion today to nearly US$7 trillion by 2030.

The Australian launch will offer an exclusive first look at the findings shaping investment priorities, policy direction, and innovation across the region, including the rise of senior tourism and the economic value of healthier ageing.

Against this backdrop, Janice Chia, Founder and Managing Director of Ageing Asia, will be speaking at the National Retirement Living Summit 2026 in Brisbane on 16 June, sharing insights on the evolving longevity economy alongside industry leaders shaping the future of retirement living.

We hope to see you there!

The Career Showcase at the 17th World Ageing Festival 2026 spotlighted the future of productive longevity, bringing together organisations, workforce leaders, and changemakers to advance conversations on lifelong employability, mid-career reskilling, and multi-stage careers.

Organised by Ageing Asia and supported by Workforce Singapore - WSG, the showcase highlighted how businesses and individuals are adapting to a rapidly evolving economy while shaping more inclusive and age-friendly workplaces. It reinforced how experience, adaptability, and continuous learning remain key enablers for longer and more meaningful working lives.

Across the programme, organisations from diverse sectors shared practical approaches to workforce sustainability and transformation. Topics included flexible work pathways, caregiving-related careers, purpose-driven longevity, and inclusive employment strategies. Contributors included leaders from Adecco, Centre for Seniors, Cominco, Conrad Singapore Marina Bay, Dr. WHO Global Watertech, Homage Academy, Iyad Perdaus Ltd, Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree, Prudential, and The Courage Chapter. Each shared real-world examples of how workforce strategies are being redesigned for a longevity economy.

The showcase reflected a clear shift towards building an ecosystem where individuals of all ages can continue to participate, contribute, and grow across every stage of life.

At the 17th World Ageing Festival 2026, leaders from business, government, and the wider ecosystem came together to explore how purpose-driven strategies, policy innovation, and cross-sector partnerships can help organisations navigate the opportunities and challenges of the longevity era.

Supported by Workforce Singapore - WSG, the panel discussion, ๐—˜๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—Ÿ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐˜๐˜† ๐—˜๐—ฟ๐—ฎ: ๐—ง๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ฃ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐˜€๐—ฒ, ๐—ฃ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐˜† ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐˜€ ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜๐—ผ ๐—œ๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐˜, examined the critical building blocks needed to translate longevity ambitions into meaningful and scalable outcomes.

The session explored how businesses and communities can adapt to longer working lives through workforce transformation, organisational readiness, and system-level support. Discussions also highlighted the importance of policies, incentives, partnerships, and data in enabling organisations to redesign jobs, strengthen capabilities, and build more inclusive and sustainable models for the future.

As societies continue to age, the conversation reinforced the importance of collaboration across sectors to create resilient workforce ecosystems that empower people to thrive across every stage of life.

A recent screening of ๐‘๐‘œ๐‘คโ„Ž๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘’ ๐ฟ๐‘–๐‘˜๐‘’ ๐ป๐‘œ๐‘š๐‘’ at the 17th World Ageing Festival 2026, a 37-minute documentary commissioned by Tsao Foundation, offered a deeply human lens into caregiving in Singapore. The film follows families navigating ageing at home, bringing to light the emotional, physical and practical realities of long-term care, while also reflecting on dignity, last wishes, and what it means to age well within the community.

Through intimate storytelling, it surfaces the lived experiences of caregivers and care recipients, highlighting the resilience required in sustaining care over time, and reinforcing caregiving as a shared societal responsibility as more families manage complex needs at home. At the 17th World Ageing Festival 2026, Tsao Foundation also served as Pathfinding Partner, shaping and anchoring these conversations around caregiving and ageing well.

These themes are echoed in a recent Straits Times feature examining the realities of senior caregiving in Singapore as the country moves towards a super-aged society.

As Singapore moves towards a super-aged society, more older adults are taking on caregiving responsibilities for spouses, siblings, and peers. While deeply rooted in familial and community commitment, this shift also brings increased physical, financial, and emotional pressures for caregivers who are ageing themselves.

Caregiving is becoming more complex as demand increases, with growing emphasis on caregiver training, stronger social support networks, and earlier intervention to better equip families and communities in managing care needs.

Dr Mary Ann Tsao of Tsao Foundation notes that caregiving is often invisible work, with wider implications on workforce participation, financial security, and long-term wellbeing, particularly for women who continue to shoulder a disproportionate share of care responsibilities.

The article also reflects perspectives from Thye Hua Kwan, Agency for Integrated Care - AIC Singapore and Singapore Management University, underscoring the importance of coordinated support across community, healthcare, and policy stakeholders.

As part of the Professional Industry Tour Singapore during the 17th World Ageing Festival 2026, delegates had the opportunity to visit Thye Hua Kwan Nursing Home Ltd, a thoughtfully designed care environment that beautifully integrates care, culture, and community.

Inspired by the rich Peranakan heritage of the neighbourhood, the nursing home features familiar design elements such as colourful tiles, traditional motifs, and culturally recognisable wayfinding cues that help create a greater sense of comfort and belonging for residents.

Beyond aesthetics, the purpose-built environment supports dignity, safety, and independence, including dedicated dementia-friendly features designed to reduce anxiety and promote confidence in daily living.

The visit offered meaningful insights into how intentional design can shape more inclusive and person-centred ageing environments for the future.

How can social robots support care across generations?

Visit AWWAโ€™s booth at the 17th World Ageing Festival 2026 to learn more about our latest LOVOT study, conducted in collaboration with the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and supported by Temasek Foundation.

The study explored how AI-enabled social robots can support emotional well-being, engagement and participation among both seniors and children with high support needs, while also easing caregiving demands.

Drop by our booth to discover how AWWA is exploring innovation in care, and how tools like LOVOT can complement human connection in community settings.

AWWA Ltd was founded in 1970 by a group of volunteers supporting low-income families, and has since evolved into one of Singapore's largest multi-service social service agencies.

AWWAโ€™s multi-professional team supports the integration and inclusion of children with developmental needs, families with complex social issues, the elderly, and persons with additional needs so that they may live out their various dreams and aspirations. AWWA is a registered charity with an Institution of a Public Character status.
