As lifespans increase, ageing well is about more than health and care. It is also about creating communities that support independence, social connection, active lifestyles and a continued sense of purpose.

The focus is not simply on adding more years to life, but on creating the conditions for people to live those years well. Communities that foster connection, movement, contribution and purpose can help people remain active and engaged as they age.

Thank you AIA Singapore AIA Singapore for having Ageing Asia be part of the conversation on purposeful longevity.

As Asia's populations age, the future of senior living will be shaped by more than quality care. It will depend on how well healthcare, housing, technology and community come together to support people in living well as they age.

This was a key focus at the 2nd Ageing Asia China Global Dialogue 2026, co-hosted by Ageing Asia and Ping An Zhen Yi Nian at its Futian Senior Living Community in Shenzhen.

Under the theme Technology-Driven, Integrated Ecosystems, industry leaders from across Asia Pacific explored how the silver economy is evolving beyond traditional care models towards integrated ecosystems that support prevention, wellbeing and quality of life.

Ageing Asia Founder Janice Chia presented insights from the Asia Pacific Silver Economy Business Opportunities Report 2026-2030, highlighting ten key forces reshaping the industry. As demand across the region accelerates, future growth will be driven by solutions that connect housing, care, health, lifestyle and caregiver support into a seamless ecosystem, rather than standalone services.

The discussions also reinforced that technology is an enabler, not the end goal. Its greatest value lies in strengthening human connection, supporting caregivers and delivering better outcomes for older adults. At the same time, successful innovation must be adapted to local cultures, communities and care systems, rather than simply replicating international models.

As countries across Asia respond to rapid demographic change, collaboration and knowledge exchange will be essential in building more resilient, inclusive and future-ready ageing societies.

As part of the broader conversations shaping the longevity workforce agenda, Workforce Singapore - WSG hosted The Golden Opportunity, a podcast series spotlighting organisations leading the way in hiring and supporting senior workers. Each episode features stories from employers who are rethinking how they attract, retain, and bring out the best in mature talent.

In this episode, Debunking Myths: Flex Work Realities, Brandon Lee, Assistant Chief Executive, Transformation Support Group, Workforce Singapore speaks with Ms Wendy Yeo, HR Business Partner, Technology & Operations (formerly Head – EVP & Talent Acquisition, Human Resources) at Prudential Singapore, about the Prudential’s PruPrime initiative — a flexible work model featuring minimum six-month work periods within 12-month contracts that create mutual value for both employers and workers. Through a retainer system, skilled talent remain on standby, ready to be deployed during seasonal and peak periods.

The discussion also challenges common misconceptions that flexible work arrangements disrupt teams, highlighting instead how innovative employment models can strengthen workforce resilience, improve operational agility, and support more inclusive and sustainable career pathways for mature workers in the longevity era.

As organisations across Asia Pacific continue to navigate ageing workforces, longer working lives, and the growing impact of AI, the conversation on building age-friendly and future-ready enterprises is becoming increasingly important.

At the Ageing Friendly Enterprise Summit in Taipei, Ageing Asia shared perspectives on the growth of the silver economy and what it means for enterprises across the region.

Key themes from the summit included practical approaches to building age-friendly workplaces, strengthening multi-generational workforce strategies, and sustaining competitiveness in a rapidly evolving labour market.

The exchange also provided an opportunity to reconnect with Mr Tadasuke Kato, Founder of Aoi Care, who was also among the speakers at the event.

At the 17th World Ageing Festival 2026, leaders from business, government, and the broader ecosystem convened to discuss how purpose-driven leadership, policy innovation, and cross-sector collaboration can help organisations navigate the opportunities and challenges of the longevity era.

Supported by Workforce Singapore - WSG, the panel discussion, Enablers of the Longevity Era: Turning Purpose, Policy and Partnerships into Impact, explored the key enablers needed to translate longevity ambitions into practical and sustainable outcomes.

Conversations focused on workforce transformation, organisational readiness, and the support systems required to help businesses and communities adapt to longer working lives. Panellists also explored how policies, partnerships, incentives, and data can enable organisations to redesign jobs, strengthen workforce capabilities, and build more inclusive, purpose-led models for the future.

Drawing on real-world examples across sectors, the session highlighted the importance of collaboration in shaping resilient workforce ecosystems that keep people engaged, productive, and supported across every stage of life.

Against this backdrop, Janice Chia, Founder and Managing Director of Ageing Asia, will be speaking at the National Retirement Living Summit 2026 in Brisbane on 16 June, sharing insights on the evolving longevity economy alongside industry leaders shaping the future of retirement living.
