*Avoid Greenwashing And Make A Real Difference Through Your Events*

Take the small steps. Avoid giant claims!

🌱 Choose a sustainable venue: Select a location that prioritises eco-friendliness and implements sustainable practices. Think of measures they take towards waste management.

♻ Minimise waste: Reduce waste by utilising reusable or compostable materials for decorations, food service, and marketing collaterals. Stay as plastic free as possible.

🚊 Provide sustainable transportation options: Encourage attendees to use public transportation or carpool to reduce carbon emissions. Gamify this aspect and perhaps create a leader board.

💻 Go paperless: Use digital communication tools to reduce paper usage, such as mobile event apps, online registration, and digital signage. Do away with lanyards completely or reuse them across different events.

🥗 Serve sustainable food: Serve locally sourced, organic, and seasonal food and beverages to reduce carbon emissions from transportation.

🔰 Educate and build awareness: Include sustainability in the event theme and educate attendees about sustainable practices.

💹 Measure and report on the event's sustainability impact: Evaluate the impact of these actions and share the results with attendees, thereby encouraging them to adopt a sustainable lifestyle.

Hosting sustainable events is our responsibility to the planet and future generations. By choosing sustainable practices, we also create a better experience for the attendees.

Let's inspire and lead by example for a sustainable future.

The fabulous campaign has been creating a stir across many countries, especially in Singapore. But what makes it resonate so well?

It's simple.

It's engaging.

It's inspiring.

It's got a good intent.

It's perfectly timed.

It allows every participant to indulge in self promotion.

A clear campaign hashtag plays an instrumental role in mobilising the content across channels.

The campaign makes the participant feel empowered, nostalgic and relatable, thus creating a real, emotional impact.

Fuelled by user-generated content, it helps the brand spread it's message through the audience and through social media influencers.

UGC also helps the brand build up their content library by collecting heart warming stories and then re-sharing the content.

The Inspiring Girls International team has also been engaging with the audience and responding back to them personally, making them feel valued and heard.

Kudos to the team for creating this terrific campaign. Take a bow!

Thousands jostling for space in aircrafts, or climbing the boarding bridge of a parked airplane. Plus the bone-chilling sights of helpless people hanging on to the landing gear of an US Air Force plane as it takes off.

Pictures and videos emerging from Afghanistan are distressing, devastating and heartbreaking.

We can all agree that there's a huge humanitarian crisis on our hands. And the international community CANNOT and MUST NOT ignore this.

International Rescue Committee , International Committee of the Red Cross, Women for Women International, Afghan Aid, Save the Children US, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency

As early as Feb 2020 (COVID-19 Situation Report 13), WHO documented the “massive ‘infodemic’ - an over-abundance of information - some accurate and some not…”

While social media platforms were critical to instant dissemination of COVID related information and safety protocols, the flip side was the ability at individual fingertips to spread fake claims and cures, medical misinformation, xenophobia and hatred.

COVID has since redefined the role of Social Media. Despite all its pitfalls, it has highlighted the ‘social’ part of Social Media: the power to forge connections despite social distancing; the power of communities to organise and respond to local needs; and the human ability to transcend geographical locations and physical distances, morphing into a true ‘global community’.

As COVID has pounded and overwhelmed the Indian health care system, people have turned to social media and their online community to save lives.

People desperate for hospital beds, oxygen cylinders and medication have posted requests on Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram for public help.
