Welcome to the ! It’s the 10th week and it has been quite a journey for these interns. Let's have a peek at what Javan Vidal, an intern from the UK has to say about his experience with us.

“A winner is a dreamer who never gives up” (Nelson Mandela)

I start with this quote as it highly resonates with myself and my own personal journey, being fortunate to personally meet the inspirational Nelson Mandela it is a quote that has stayed with me.

It has been an enjoyable yet challenging portion of weeks on this internship programme at Red Card Global. The experience, skills and knowledge picked up along the way have been invaluable.

This being my first experience of an internship in general and aligning with the current worldwide pandemic issues, as well as the remote nature of the programme.

I have needed to adapt and cater for many variables such as a culture, language and time zone barriers though this hasn’t been easy I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

I have been challenged to adapt, think and operate in a way I haven’t previously done before which has enabled me to grow in many weeks.

I look forward to the remaining weeks ahead and am forever grateful for those that have provided this opportunity of growth and learning on my own personal journey.

I have made many great contacts on a personal and business level and broadened my network and horizons globally and for that, I am also very grateful.

Thanks for reading our weekly blog.

It's 8 weeks! It’s a short yet long time where Interns have made huge progress. Let's read what Rajiv Adhav, an intern from India working for Red Card Global's Sports League and Association’s team, has to say about his two-months experience with us.

“A GOOD LEADER PEELS SOMEONE LIKE AN ONION”

It was a statement made by Mr. Sasi in one of our meetings where he was teaching us the different strategies in sales. The point has stayed with me and in a nutshell, such has been the experience at Red Card Global.

The 2-month internship, though a short one, has been a fruitful experience so far and I’m glad I was shortlisted to be a part of this programme amongst the 130-odd applicants that had applied for this remote internship. It’s been an amazing experience to be a part of this group which consists of individuals belonging to different parts of the world.

From guiding us to create a marketing plan to understanding the basics of sponsorship, Sasikumar kept challenging us everyday by assigning tasks and guided us to solve them by providing outcome-based solutions. He has continuously emphasized the importance of working on our communication skills. We are grateful to Sasikumar for providing an opportunity to shape our experience according to the industry standards and helping us to become better versions of ourselves.

We are currently working on the analysis of the cost that will be incurred during the ASEAN youth super league, sponsors required for the tournament, drawing out fixtures, and noting down the rules & regulations of the tournament. The Sports League and Association’s team that I am a part of has been very supportive throughout the internship, helping each other whenever required. The best part is that we have a few more weeks at Red Card Global and we hope to make the most out of this internship. Till then stay tuned for more updates and stories.

Thanks for reading our weekly blog.

It's 7 WEEKS now! Let's read what Ye ZhengMao, an intern working for Red Card Global's Sports Entrepreneurship team, has to say about his 7th week here.

This internship gave me the deepest impression in my life. Not only that it happened in the special time “COVID Time”, but also it is my the first time that works with foreigners in English.

Time goes so fast. I can't believe that the internship is closed to the ending progress. It is my pleasure that worked for Red Card Global in these few weeks. I thought I changed a lot during this intern. I did serval times interns before, but it is the first time that I do an internship in remotely and work with the foreigner workmates. I am being well on the time management which makes me can coordinate better with the time zone and studying tasks.

I learned an important thing is that don't prepare for the failure. There was a time meeting with the whole group and my boss. I met some changeling which made me in trouble and struggling. After Mr. Sasi taught me how to face it and using which kind of attitude to do it. I said, " Anyway, I would do my best!".

He interrupted me and said " Don't say 'do your best' anymore, just go and do it. As a seller, if you think about plan B every time, you would never get pay for the customers." It helps me a lot during the rest of the internship. Which make me more convenient and enjoyable when I tried to get connections with the customers.

I also being better at communication, especially in English. Before the beginning of the internship, I would think I was lucky enough that I can use my first language Cantonese instead of the English to communicate. That's the main reason why I would choose a Southeast Asian company. But the fact is, our task is facing worldwide which means English is still the best way to communicate. But anyway, my English is being better.

It's 5 WEEKS now! Our 25-year-old Korean intern has some exciting journey to share. Let's read what Youngsub Lee, an intern working for Red Card Global's Sports League and Association’s team, has to say about his 5th week here.
---
It was seven in the evening at the city-state where hustle and bustle of life settled shortly after a compromise for many. Lying on the couch with remote control on one hand after a well-deserved meal, seven in the evening was still daytime for millennials of this island. Most may not even be at home if not for the pandemic, flocking on the exotic streets of Singapore. Seven was still a racy time for me.
However, not everyone gets to savour the relaxation of 7 pm as I do. As the planet Earth orbits the Sun, and the Moon orbits the Earth, an accountant in Los Angeles could be knocked off on the bed after struggling with numbers, while a Sao Paulo-based student could be grabbing the last bite of Manioc before the hustle. Thus, not everyone relished the tranquility of 7 pm on 10th July I enjoyed on our first ‘mentorship conference meeting’. As the interns gathered, our US-based colleague appearing before the camera with gloomy dark circles was the epitome of breaking through the challenges of different time zones under the remote internship.

The internship which entails various subsets of the sports industry is genuinely enriching for aspiring students like us. But, meeting people from all walks of life from different regions and continents was a bonus. Never have I made a friend from Spain nor have I worked with three Indian colleagues on an enthralling project for months. At times feeling lonely on the path to a career in sports, this internship has created an arena for socialisation not just for connections but also for pure camaraderie.

The strength of diversity was further underlined along the course as well. The different backgrounds we have been nurtured as dreamers of this world have forged creative and innovative ideas - some of which I would never have thought of - to tackle the task on hand. We were not only learning through constant emergence of tasks but from each other’s views and critics.
Weeks passed by since the inception and we began to grow an affinity for each other; we led small talks not as an appetiser for the business-talk to follow but for the pure purpose of answering curiosity on each other’s well-being and whereabouts.

Rest assured, the best part of this blog lies in the fact that there are still weeks to go for the dazzled 25-year-old Korean to fill the remaining stories of this journey with bona fide wannabes across the world. In the meantime, subscribers and readers of Red Card Global stay safe, while we redefine sports marketing.
Thanks for reading our weekly blog.

It's another ! Let's have a read of what Vivek Dixit, an intern who used to be in the Sports Tech team but is now in the League/Association team, has to say about his 4th Week here:
---
“It is like driving on a steep hilly road. You cannot see beyond the bend, but you are always eager to look at the other side and discover something new”.

Sports is the one thing about my life that makes me who I am. I wouldn’t call myself the best player on the team, but I am always the one who is looking forward to learning more and grow with every new thing that comes my way. Four weeks into the internship and I realized so many new things about myself and everyone around me. There were mixed emotions and turning points that I had not seen coming. Being part of the Sports Tech Team, I went in-depth into the world of sports analytics and how important it is as a tool. We all love to watch matches but every player on the field is being assessed at that point in time so that in the next match they can be better.

Being a Marketing student, I had never realized, making marketing plans on paper can be so different in comparison to when you have to practically apply each idea. In-depth knowledge and the constant guidance from Mr Sasikumar Sir helped me get a detailed overview. As a result, my partner and I were able to come up with a Marketing Plan for the sports analytics tool and found the right audience to target. I went ahead and pitched the whole idea to prospective customers, and it was not easy, but I can’t deny that I learnt a lot. It gave me the confidence to be able to justify everything that I was saying and also gave me a chance to have hands-on experience of pitching a product. I don’t think it would have been possible without Mr Sasikumar sir’s guidance, including him taking out time to help us understand the way of doing a sales pitch. We also had a fun session in between where Sir taught all of us the art of a better LinkedIn profile and I realized how we always work on the biggest of things and never look at the small things that people might notice a lot.

A journey within a journey is how I would describe my 4th week at Red Card Global. The journey I started this week was when I entered the League/Association Team and suddenly everything felt different. The people, the tasks, and the motivation behind working to understand the dynamics better. I started working with a new team to establish the Teqball Federation of Singapore. I will also be working alongside on re-designing the Red Card Global website which is visited by so many people across the globe and will also be researching on establishing ASEAN Football League at the grassroots level.

Patience is the one thing I have learnt during the past 4 weeks. There were days when things were not falling into place the way I had planned, but I did not stop. I learned more from those days and tried working more towards executing as per the audience in front of me. The learning and growth have been immense and working with a new team will give more insight into how the industry works and how teams are established. After all, working to achieve is everyone’s goal but working to learn is the one I focus on.

It's been 3 WEEKS! Aren't you wondering what an intern has to say about this week? Let's read what Luis Valero, an intern working for Red Card Global's Sports Entrepreneurship team, has to say about his 3rd week here.
---
“You must expect great things of yourself before you can do them.” Michael Jordan.

This internship has been challenging for me and my team. How? Well, all of us, live in different countries, and, hence, the time zones to book meetings have been a problem. However, the strong communication between us and the responsibility of completing our work on time have been key factors in helping us moving forward.

Our project is to assist football coaches in guiding them on how to run their business through a program called "Sports Business Mentor" created by Mr Sasikumar. By enrolling in it, people can have a better understanding of themselves and their business to improve their probabilities of success.

For the third week, we did some role-playing exercises between us and discussed how to approach football coaches. We had meetings with Mr Sasikumar, who is excited to see what the following weeks will unfold for us. He is also committed to teaching us as much as he can. We are very grateful for this opportunity because it is helping us to broaden our perspective and improve our mentality.

Thanks for reading our weekly blog.

It's the ! Undoubtedly, this has been an adventurous week for the interns at Red Card Global. Let's read what an intern working for Red Card Global's Media Team, Kevin Karriappa, has to say about his 2nd week here:
---
“The only way to prove you are a good sport is to lose.” – Ernie Banks

The sports industry we are working in can be quite harsh, it rewards you when you do things right but can equally punish you if you do not meet its standards. We have completed week two at Red Card Global, and let me tell you what a week it has been. It’s been a roller coaster of emotions for us in the sports media team. Arnav, who is one of my team members, and I went from having no guests booked for our Youtube Series: Sports Stories with Sasi on Friday morning to having guests lined up for the next 10 weeks by Friday evening. So this week definitely has been eventful for us.

Additionally, I have just realized how difficult the sports media business can really be, especially when it comes to dealing with the player's agents. This is because the majority of the times they do not respond back which can certainly be nerve-wracking. Nonetheless, as a team, we've managed to pull through and end the week strong. Without a doubt, this internship is a great opportunity for us to learn everything about sports media. Furthermore, Mr Sasikumar, Red Card Global's founder, has been giving us the right nuggets of advice to steer us on track in case we start to wobble.

To end, this is a great opportunity for all 11 of the interns selected. Besides, the diversity in the group allowed for more opportunities to learn from each other. I personally cannot wait to see what shape this internship takes but one thing it promises is that everyone involved will grow as an individual both personally and professionally.

Welcome to our new blog series known as the ! Here, at Red Card Global, we have on-board a diverse group of 11 talented individuals passionate about sports & business. Their 12-week internship journey began officially on July 6th. So, without further adieu, read below what one of our interns, Nidhi Poddar, has to say about her first week:
---
"Give me six hours to chop down a tree, and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe."

One of the crucial parameters in working for any company is providing a solution but not rushing towards it. My journey at Red Card Global since day one or even before the first day has been fascinating. CEO, Mr Sasikumar, our mentor, organised a pre-meet with all the interns who were selected for the summer internship program. We were given the obvious yet still the most over-looked upon advice; the importance of punctuality and being well-dressed, which I have come to realise are undoubtedly essential when working for any organisation.

Moving on, interestingly, I didn't know this, but at our pre-meet, I realised I was the only female selected to be part of this internship. While it was surprising, it made me happy when Mr Sasikumar applauded me over that success. Furthermore, at this introductory meet, the other interns developed a new sense of joy, and it instantly made me realise that this 12-week journey was going to be a fun one. Moreover, there were four groups made by Mr Sasikumar as per his understanding of where we would best fit. I was in Team A – dealing with Leagues/Associations.

On our first official working day, we were briefed with the tasks for our team as well as set expectations. We made a marketing plan within our team, which comprised of one Singaporean and one Indian intern along with me, to create the National Teqball Federation of Singapore. The task was quite broad and using our knowledge, experience, and skill, we focused on our target audience and delivered a presentation of the marketing plan. As first, Mr Sasikumar seemed quite impressed, but then he guided us with clear information where we had lost track. This was, by far, the most simple yet best guidance we had, at this was only the first day. Why and how? Well, it made our understanding more in-depth and helped us stay more focused on achieving our goal. Currently, we are working on our target audience and developing a plan to reach out to them in a professional manner.

In addition to all this, Mr Sasikumar is mentoring all of us, the interns, in developing social media profiles to help showcase ourselves more efficiently on professional platforms by providing the most accurate information.

Overall, the best part about this internship program is the fact that I am developing myself every day. Whether that be through enhancing my skills in writing and video-making or learning how to manage social mediums and meet deadlines, I'd like to end by saying that I am grateful to Mr Sasikumar as well as the RCG team for giving me this opportunity.
