The shirt goes, the heart stays

Dion flashes a old photograph on the projector screens. A young, plainly-dressed boy stands awkwardly beneath the unmistakable arches of a young, undecorated Clifford Pier - twin echoes of lives once lived, both on the edge of their own brighter futures. A soft ripple rises from the audience as they realise that the past and present have collided.

Dion turns to look Crystal in the eyes. "When we first found out that this area was going to become a hotel, I told you that I would earn enough to marry you here. That was fifteen years ago. It took some time, but here we are."

If we're being honest, we think that was a tiny bit cocky. But we'd also be lying if we said we weren't impressed. In every dark hour spent awake, every bone-crushing failure, and every back-breaking success, all he could see was her. Everything for her.

Love can move people to do incredible things - they can weather impossible years, scale impossible heights. But to hear that journey as it was told was no less than inspiring. This was the journey of a boy who traded his t-shirt for a suit but kept his heart just as big. And perhaps that says something about the power of love. It allows us to transform for those we love without losing the parts of ourselves that made them love us in the first place. No other force in the world allows us to grow without changing. We think that's magical.
