Since the beginning of the first modern Olympic Games, the Games has been only been cancelled three times; once during WWI and twice during WWII. As of 24th March 2020, the IOC and TOCOG officially announced the decision to postpone the Tokyo 2020 until next year, no later than summer 2021.

In such unprecedented times with more than 400,000 cases now recorded worldwide, and the number growing by the hour, it is vital to take a step back and focus on what’s most important now for our human society.

Along with everyone involved in the Olympic Games, we embrace the challenges and look forward to constructively working towards Tokyo 2020 (the name will remain the same).

🔥Tokyo 2020 will be the first celebration to mark the global fight against the pandemic, uniting nations together even more strongly through sports.

Until then, stay home if you can, be informed and vigilant!

It also takes a look at the impressive "Rui Hachimura effect” 🇯🇵🏀 (side note: who's enjoying the All-Star Weekend?) for the NBA and Washington Wizards. A few takeaways:

- Within 4 months, the Washington Wizards accrued:
- over 35,000 Japanese Twitter followers
- 85 million impressions
- 50 million video views across their Japanese platforms.

Jim Van Stone, CCO of Monumental Sports & Entertainment, explains how the company’s recent commercial activities in India and Japan form part of a wider international push for its NBA and NHL franchises.

Good start to 2020 football! ⚽️

Liverpool has been the first to take up the January transfer window, signing on Japans superstar🇯🇵, Takumi Minamino.

Along with Son Heung-Min and Shinji Kagawa, is he capable of showing that Asian players can make an impact on the field amongst the Premier Leagues elites?

Here’s the interesting read from SportsPro

With the club riding high on all fronts, Fanatics’ UK general manager, Danny Downs, maps out the path to off-field success for Liverpool and their Japanese signing.

“Throughout our lives, society defines for us what success is and we use this to judge ourselves and others. Men are told what masculinity is and that success is about pursuing individual glory. Surely, we can be better than that.”
