A question from one mum stayed with MP Elysa Chen:

“Why is unpaid caregiving at home less valuable than the contributions of a working mother?”

It’s a question that clearly resonated with many Singapore parents.

Stay-at-home mums may not be earning a salary, but the work does not stop, feeding, teaching, caregiving, managing sick days, appointments, routines and the mental load that comes with raising a child.

In her speech, Elysa also highlighted the difference in childcare and infant-care support tied to a mother’s employment status, and called for greater recognition of the many ways parents contribute to their families.

The comments showed how deeply this issue hits. One mum described full-time caregiving as a 24/7 responsibility, while another reminded us that having children is not only about giving birth, it’s years of caregiving afterwards.

Whether a mum works in an office, freelances, works part-time or stays home with her children, caregiving still has value. ❤️

Do you think childcare support should depend on a mother’s employment status?

Think blocked ducts always mean you should use heat and express more milk? 🤱 Not necessarily. Newer guidance may recommend a different approach.

In this AskMeDoctor! segment, Nabila Hanim, IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) and President of the Breastfeeding Mothers' Support Group (Singapore), explains some common causes of blocked ducts, from pressure caused by tight clothing to staying in one feeding position for too long, and why a cool compress may help reduce inflammation.

A photo showing four children with their heads and bodies outside the sunroof of a moving GetGo car has sparked concern online.

GetGo says it is investigating the incident and reminds users that unsafe driving behaviour could result in suspension or even a permanent ban.

For parents, it's an important reminder that every child should always travel safely inside the vehicle with the appropriate seatbelt or child restraint. 💛

This is what courage looks like. 💛

After spotting a Hair for Hope poster in her neighbourhood, 9-year-old Faith decided to shave her head to support children battling cancer. She did it just before returning to school and when asked if she was afraid to go back bald, her answer was simply, “No.”

Faith said she only wanted children going through treatment to feel happier and less alone. 🥺 A beautiful reminder that kindness has no age.
