Captured by Carl I'm Carl, landscape and people photographer from Malta Over time, I started to develop an affinity towards landscape photography.

I picked up my first camera around 17 years ago and not having lived through the film era of photography, I felt that I was piecing the puzzle together in reverse order. By that time, the digital era of photography was picking up pace, but I felt that I was part of it having been a technophile it was enough to start developing a passion. A few years later I got another camera which allowed full ‘m

anual’ shooting - through this I started playing around with shutter speeds & aperture settings and started to appreciate the technical elements of cameras. I joined online forums and local photography groups where I could shadow some of the more established photographers and gain more experience. Shooting landscapes has given me the opportunity to admire how light, elements and geography dance together and if I’m lucky enough, I’ll have the camera ready to freeze this opportunity in time. I’m not a writer but I do love story-telling, so these images are my way of capturing the essence of a moment without writing. After a long break I've finally taken to time to revitalise what I enjoy doing in my spare time, and that is to bring some of my landscapes back to life. Really happy with the outcome of these two 30x24 inch prints, and can't wait to see them on the wall of another happy client soon!

Opuntia ficus-indica, is a common Cactus species much used in agriculture for closing field margins which gives the farmer protection from wind and also helps to prevent trespassing into fields. Although it makes delicious fruits, it is not much harvested by farmers. This was introduced from Central America.
