And there’s research behind this.

In his book, 59 Seconds, Richard Wiseman shares an interesting experiment.

Half of a group heard statistics about the millions of starving people in Zambia.

The other half heard a story of a starving 7-year-old African girl.

Afterwards, they could donate money.

The result: those who heard the girl’s story gave more than twice as much money.

Why? The story was personal, specific, and left them feeling something.
