*SIERRA LEONE’S HIGH COMMISSIONER TO THE GAMBIA PRESENTS COPIES OF HER CREDENTIALS TO GUINEA-BISSAU’S FOREIGN MINISTER*

Bissau, Monday 20th October 2025.

Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the Republic of The Gambia, also accredited to the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Her Excellency High Commissioner Kanagbo, has presented copies of her Letters of Credence to Hon. Carlos Pinto Pereira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guinea-Bissau, at a brief but impressive ceremony held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Bissau.

During the presentation, High Commissioner Kanagbo expressed her gratitude to the Foreign Minister for the warm reception accorded her and conveyed her enthusiasm to begin her diplomatic duties in Guinea-Bissau. She emphasized the strong and historic bilateral ties between Sierra Leone and Guinea-Bissau and reaffirmed her commitment to further deepening and expanding these relations for the mutual benefit of both nations.

The High Commissioner also proposed, through the Foreign Minister, the initiation of diplomatic engagements with key line ministries — including Education, Agriculture, Fisheries, and Gender, to explore collaborative opportunities, exchange visits, and joint development programmes aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two sister countries.

High Commissioner Kanagbo further informed the Minister of her intention to appoint an Honorary Consul resident in Bissau, to facilitate closer engagement and ensure a more effective representation of Sierra Leone’s interests in Guinea-Bissau.

In his remarks, Minister Carlos Pinto Pereira congratulated High Commissioner Kanagbo on her appointment and assured her of his Ministry’s full support and cooperation as she undertakes her diplomatic mission. He reaffirmed Guinea-Bissau’s readiness to work closely with Sierra Leone in advancing shared goals of peace, development, and regional integration.

The High Commissioner was accompanied by the Head of Chancery, Ms. Khadijatu Eunice Alpha; Third Secretary, Mr. Michael Kangbai; and Trade Attaché, Mr. Manso Pa Soko Kamara.
