To end drugs abuse, the Deputy Chief Whip of the Sierra Leone Parliament, Hon. Alusine Kanneh who also doubles as the Chairman for the Committee on Internal Affairs has called on the Ministry of Finance to give more financial support to the National Drugs Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). According to the Deputy Chief Whip, to end drugs abuse, there should be multi-sectoral approach.

He made this called during Group Two Sub-Appropriation Committee for the 2023 budget report presentation to Members of Parliament on Monday 19th December 2022.

Whilst presenting his report to the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu on the commotion that occurred between Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Well of Sierra Leone Parliament on Wednesday the 23 of November 2022, the Clerk of Parliament of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Hon. Umar Paran Tarawally, in his report captured four MPs as perpetrators of the sad incident. According to the Clerk, over Le 100,000 (NLe) of Government Properties were destroyed.

Over the weekend at the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy, Hastings Campus, addressing both the Formed Police Unit and the recruits, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr.William Fayia Sellu has placed emphasis on zero tolerance for drugs abuse in the SLP .In a stern warning, the Chief Executive Officer of the SLP stressed that, the day any of them is caught with drugs, that very day he or she will leave, there is no compromise to that, he emphasized.
