The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is introducing new reforms to strengthen transparency and accountability in the declaration, monitoring and verification of assets by public officials in Sierra Leone.

The reforms follow a 99.54 per cent compliance rate recorded in 2024, when 17,253 public officers across 182 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) declared their assets. However, 80 officers, representing 0.46 per cent, failed to comply with the requirement.

The ACC says the reforms are intended to make the assets declaration system more effective in preventing corruption, promoting accountability and helping authorities identify unexplained wealth among public officials.

One of Sierra Leone’s most decorated football coaches, Mohamed Lamin Kamara, has described his appointment as Assistant Coach-II of the Leone Stars as “an opportunity to contribute to the success of the national team and create another landmark in his coaching career.”

Kamara’s appointment was announced by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), alongside former Bo Rangers coach Alhaji “Abedi” Foray, who has been named as Assistant Coach-I.

Speaking to Awoko Newspaper, Kamara pledged to give his best saying “I’ll give my best in helping the Leone Stars head coach and the entire team to succeed.”

Coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara’s widely appreciated appointment comes after a remarkable period in his coaching career having made history with Sierra Leone’s male U-20 national team, the Shooting Stars, at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt, guiding the team to the semi-finals, a historic achievement for Sierra Leonean youth football.
