PRESS RELEASE
JAGABAN 2026 DEVELOPMENT IMPACT — NINE MONTHS OF SERVICE TO COMMUNITIES
Freetown, Sierra Leone — 26th September 2026
Since January 2026, the Leading Flagbearer Aspirant of the All People’s Congress (APC) Party, Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, has undertaken and supported a broad range of development and humanitarian interventions across Sierra Leone.
The initiatives have focused on transportation, solar energy, agriculture, women and youth empowerment, healthcare, education, water access, community infrastructure and grassroots development.
Key interventions include the investment in 25 new Golden Dragon buses, the launch of a 5,000-solar-streetlight programme reaching communities including Pujehun, Port Loko, Bo, Kenema, Kono and Kambia, and agricultural support reported to have reached more than 2,000 farmers across six districts.
Through grassroots empowerment programmes, Jagaban has supported women, young people, farmers, students and small businesses, while youth-focused interventions have included mobility support and motorbikes for leadership structures across Kono, Bo, Kenema, Tonkolili, Port Loko and other districts.
Healthcare initiatives have provided medical and humanitarian support to vulnerable citizens, including elderly-care and surgical interventions, while education programmes have supported schools, students and tertiary institutions through learning materials, computers, financial assistance, summer-school programmes and solar lighting.
Community engagement has remained central to the programme, with community meetings, development visits and summits providing platforms for residents, traditional leaders, women, youth and farmers to identify local priorities. These engagements have resulted in practical interventions involving roads, water, lighting, rehabilitation facilities and other community infrastructure.
The broader 2026 development record reflects an approach centred on bringing resources closer to communities and responding to practical needs through direct grassroots engagement.
From transport to agriculture, from education to healthcare, and from solar energy and water access to women and youth empowerment, Jagaban’s 2026 interventions have focused on putting development resources closer to the people.
