Role Purpose: A Business Intelligence Analyst (BI Analyst) plays a crucial role in helping organisations make data-driven decisions by analysing data, generating insights, and presenting these insights in an understandable and actionable way for decision-makers.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background:
- Bachelorโs degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- A masterโs degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related field can be advantageous.
- Technical Certifications:
- Certifications in BI tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, or similar.
- Certifications in data analysis, SQL, and related technologies (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, Certified Business Intelligence Professional - CBIP).
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field.
- Experience in data mining, data modelling, and working with large datasets.

- BI Tools: Expertise in using BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, or others to create dashboards and reports.

- Data Warehousing: Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
- Programming: Basic programming skills in Python or R for data manipulation and analysis.
- Data Visualization: Ability to create clear, concise, and impactful visualisations that convey data insights effectively.
- Excel: Advanced skills in Excel for data analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
- Data Collection and Analysis:
- Collect, process, and analyse large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
- Report and Dashboard Creation:
- Develop and maintain BI dashboards, reports, and visualisations that provide real-time insights to business stakeholders.
- Data Modelling:
- Design and implement data models that support efficient data analysis and reporting.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with business units to understand their data needs and translate them into technical requirements.
- Performance Monitoring:
- Monitor business performance metrics, identify critical drivers of performance, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Data Quality Assurance:
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across all BI reports and dashboards.
- Ad Hoc Analysis:
- Conduct ad hoc data analysis to support specific business decisions or projects.
- Training and Support:
- Provide training and support to business users on how to use BI tools and interpret the data.
Duties:
- Querying Databases:
- Write and optimise SQL queries to extract data from relational databases.
- ETL Processes:
- Support developing and maintaining ETL processes to ensure data is properly extracted, transformed, and loaded into data warehouses.
- Trend Analysis:
- Perform trend analysis to identify changes in business performance and potential areas of concern or opportunity.
- KPI Tracking:
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular updates to business leaders.
- Documentation:
- Document BI processes, methodologies, and best practices to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing within the organisation.
- Data Governance:
- Contribute to data governance efforts by helping to establish standards, policies, and procedures for data management and usage.

- Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of data used for analysis and reporting.
- Timely Reporting:
- Delivering reports and insights within agreed timelines to support timely decision-making.

- Generating insights that lead to actionable recommendations and drive business performance.

- Introducing new data analysis techniques or BI tools that enhance the organisationโs data capabilities.

- Report Accuracy Rate:
- Percentage of BI reports that are delivered without errors or discrepancies.
- Timeliness of Reports:
- Percentage of reports delivered on time, according to the agreed schedule.
- User Satisfaction Score:
- Feedback from stakeholders on the usefulness and clarity of the reports and dashboards provided.
- Number of Data-Driven Decisions:
- Number of business decisions made based on the insights and recommendations provided by the BI analyst.
- Adoption Rate of BI Tools:
- Percentage of business users actively using BI tools and dashboards for decision-making.
- Reduction in Data Processing Time:
- The time taken to extract, process, and deliver data insights, focusing on continuous improvement.
- Data Quality Issues Resolved:
- The number of data quality issues identified and resolved to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data.
