Condemn Cambodia’s Actions! Sacred Heritage Site Turned into Military Base — A Clear Violation of International Conventions
The image shown is undeniable evidence: Cambodia has militarized an ancient temple — a cultural heritage site over a thousand years old — by turning it into a military post and firing base. Sandbags, weapons, and military rations have been placed inside the temple itself, with armed soldiers stationed within the historic structure, in blatant disregard for international law.
This act constitutes a serious violation of multiple international conventions, including:
🔺 The Hague Conventions of 1907 and 1954
These outline the protection of cultural property during armed conflict. It explicitly prohibits the use of heritage sites for military purposes under any circumstances.
🔺 The Ottawa Treaty (Mine Ban Treaty)
Although focused on the prohibition of anti-personnel mines, Cambodia’s broader behavior — including the militarization of heritage sites — reflects a clear disregard for humanitarian principles enshrined in such treaties.
🔺 UNESCO Principles
As a member of UNESCO, Cambodia is obligated to preserve world heritage sites. This military use not only desecrates a sacred site but also exposes it to damage or destruction in the event of retaliatory attacks.
📢 This is not just a military tactic — it is a cultural and humanitarian outrage. We urge the international community, especially UNESCO and signatories of the above conventions, to hold Cambodia accountable for these grave violations.
ประณามการกระทำของกัมพูชา! ใช้โบราณสถานศักดิ์สิทธิ์เป็นฐานทหาร ละเมิดอนุสัญญาระหว่างประเทศอย่างชัดเจน
ภาพที่เห็นคือหลักฐานชัดเจนว่า กัมพูชาใช้ปราสาทตาควาย ซึ่งเป็นโบราณสถานเก่าแก่ อายุกว่าพันปี เป็นที่ตั้งกำลังพลและฐานยิงทางทหาร โดยมีการนำกระสอบทราย อาวุธ และเสบียงไปตั้งภายในตัวปราสาท รวมถึงมีทหารถืออาวุธประจำการอยู่ภายในโบราณสถานอย่างไม่เกรงกลัวกฎหมายสากล
นี่คือการกระทำที่ละเมิดอย่างร้ายแรงต่ออนุสัญญาระหว่างประเทศหลายฉบับ ได้แก่:
🔺 อนุสัญญาเฮก พ.ศ. 2447 และ 2497
ว่าด้วยการคุ้มครองทรัพย์สินทางวัฒนธรรมในกรณีพิพาททางทหาร ซึ่งกำหนดชัดว่า ห้ามมิให้ฝ่ายใดฝ่ายหนึ่งใช้โบราณสถานเพื่อวัตถุประสงค์ทางทหาร
🔺 อนุสัญญาออตตาวา (Ottawa Treaty)
แม้เกี่ยวข้องกับการใช้ทุ่นระเบิดสังหารบุคคล แต่พฤติกรรมที่เกี่ยวพันกับการใช้โบราณสถานเป็นฐานยิง ย่อมสะท้อนถึงเจตนาไม่เคารพหลักมนุษยธรรมโดยรวม
🔺 หลักการของยูเนสโก (UNESCO)
ในฐานะที่กัมพูชาเป็นภาคีของยูเนสโก การกระทำเช่นนี้คือการลบหลู่มรดกโลก และเสี่ยงให้โบราณสถานถูกทำลายจากการโจมตีโต้ตอบ
