PRIVILEGES turns 30 today!

In March 1991 I launched the Privileges Card in Canberra. So today it's been 30 years since I took that leap of faith to create something innovative and useful for the wider community.

Some people said the business wouldn't last 1 year, let alone 30, and I must admit there were times when I thought they might be right.

But I soldiered on, with the help of loyal staff; enthusiastic cardholders; and wonderful restaurant partners. To all of those people (who supported me then, and continue to do so today) I say thank you for your help and support.

My expansion into Asia 15 years ago was a watershed moment, where leading companies, including Flight Centre, distributed thousands of Cards each month to tourists in Phuket; Koh Samui; Bangkok and Bali.

Supported by a loyal team, including Marshall Rudko (my Thailand GM) and Khun Tomma (my office and operations manager) we created a very successful enterprise.

Obviously, since COVID, things have changed dramatically, however with change comes opportunity, and consequently I've recently modified my focus to key domestic tourism markets such as Cairns and Port Douglas.

All I can say, as I reflect gratefully on the past 3 decades, is that I'm really looking forward to the next 30 years!
